The Burial of Axon

Time: 11 years after the end of the Age of Reclamation; one year after the end of the REDSTAR Rebellion; Shortly after the funeral of King Cortan Tesilia of the Auyuelcliads:

Location: Independent Territory; Thishen System; Planet Azuron:

In the western hills, from where the gleaming crystal spires of Indigo City where visible in the distance, a great collection of people where gathered in remembrance of the greatest Wexxian who had ever lived.

Everywhere one looked, there were people; mostly Wexxians, gathered in camps where they socialised, sang or told stories to each other. The people of the Crystal city had also come out to watch as all of the Wexxian people where gathered in one place.

The Wexxians invited anyone into their tents for drinks and food, the mood as if they where having a party, but there was a serious reason for this occasion, something sorrowful that the Wexxians where either hiding or ignoring to make room for their party spirit.

When Thishen began to sink into the horizon, the sky turned deep purple and the Tcils began singly softly in the evening breeze; the laughter and noise silenced and the attention focused to the middle of the gathered people.

In the middle of the gathered masses, on top of one of the hills; the Wexxians had erected a monument consisting of six circles of stone monoliths. In the middle there was a great platform where there was placed a podium.

While the great mass of people kept a respectful distance to the monument, there was a gathering of Axons family, his old friends as well as a great deal of foreign dignitaries who had come to pay their last respects to Axon; who where standing between the large ebony stones.

A Tcil landed on one of the monoliths and sang a low tune while cleaning its golden and red feathers. In the sky; the Wexxian Royal fleet was just visible in orbit.

Axons sons; Elixe and Zelato walked around among the visitors, greeting them and conversing with old friends.

Queen Jantan had landed a distance from the procession, and moved towards the Wexiian heirs with a determined grace. She bowed low...

"Elixe, Zelato, Wexxian friends. I am Queen Jantan of the United Technocratic Races of the Former Auyuelcliad Empire. To my left, Hullia Huq Marli of the Technocratic Socialist Party and current Prime Minister. To my right, The Grand Doge Astariba Telmariel, although she is very old these days, and takes little part in ruling over the former Rapaxeon Confederacy. To her right, Hai Hasuul, Leader of the Technocratic National Pride Leader and Secondary Minister. I am here to offer my condolences, and to mourn a great leader of our modern times. The Wexxians have often been friends of my people, and I hope the New Union shall have better relations with the Wexxians than the old."
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." - Oscar Wilde

Yes, I am aware of the irony.

Elixe bowed deeply to Queen Jantan.

Elixe: “Friends, we must never be enemies again! Though our emotions are a turbulent gift, we must never again let them separate the bonds that we all share… Welcome my queen!”

Zelato walked behind Elixe.

Zelato: “Take it easy bro! If you are going to receive everyone like that, it’s going to be a long night!... It is good to see you again miss Jantan.“

I am Emperor Lucian of the Has'ri Empire. I have come here to pay my respects. It was he who got us back one of our most valuable ships.

Kuatak climbed the steps to join the group of dignitaries. "Elixe, Zelato, it is good to meet you. He bowed deeply, exposing the crimson cloak on his back. "Your father was a great man, and many of our people even know his name. If I remember correctly, one of our ships, crew and all, perished to the catalyst as well, and our sympathies go to all who suffered that fate." He seemed to finish with that. "Forgive me, but I seem to recall the name Elixe better than you Zelato, no offense intended. Might either of you know why?"

Zelato walked up to Emperor Lucian.

Zelato: “Our dad did many things, quite frankly we have little accurate information about his life before his return from Arcadia… he rarely spoke of the time before that.

The empty shell has been encased in crystal and placed in the middle on the platform!”

Zelato pointed to the middle where a great bluish Wexxian crystal was placed. Through its surface, the shadowed outline of the Reclaimer was visible.

Kuatak climbed the steps to join the group of dignitaries. "Elixe, Zelato, it is good to meet you. He bowed deeply, exposing the crimson cloak on his back. "Your father was a great man, and many of our people even know his name. "Forgive me, but I seem to recall the name Elixe better than you Zelato, no offense intended. Might either of you know why?"

Zelato laughed and put on of his hands on his brother Elixe’s shoulder.

Zelato: “Well, its because Elixe here became monarch after our father, while I made career in the fleet. He inherited his position, while I earned mine the hard way.

I am Grand Admiral of the Royal Navy and captain of the Flagship Independence. The reason you may not know me is that I never have been in your territory. I did however fight alongside Alliance of Honour troops in the final battle of Vii!”

The Zakraa dignitaries walked up to Elixe and Zelato. After performing the traditional bow, Commander Erak spoke. "Honour to you, sons of Axon. The Zakraa have mourned your fathers death, as he did much for our people, and was the most honourable being our race has ever heard of. I was lucky enough to fight with him in the war, back when I was only in charge of a fleet. He was a great being, and all Wexxians should be proud of his acheivments." Then, he beckoned for the rest of the Zakraa to come forward. "This is my sister Zunok, my father Ukax, and the aged Old King Zkek, who was lucky enough to talk with Axon regularly, and see his wisdom. His arm was blown off when his ship was attacked in the REDSTAR war, and he is in bad health, but he wanted to come here this day."

"Good! I'm glad that such cooperation has grasped so many of our people." Kuatak turned to the crystal casing in which Axon was interred, and began to quietly mutter his family's prayers.

Elixe: ”Welcome honoured Zakraa, we are glad to see you here this day.

You have always stood by our side when we where in trouble, we are ever grateful!”

Zelato gave a crisp navy salute to the old King Zkek

Zelato: “Grand King Zkek, I am honoured by your presence; your leadership led us through the dark times. The Wexxian people will remember your name and legend always.”

On the platform in the middle, an old Wexxian, one of the few who had lived in the dark times before the Dawn of the Reclamation, approached the small speakers stand, in front of the bluish crystal.

Old Yxa: “Can I have your attention please… thank you all!

We are here today to say a final goodbye and pay or respects to Tagan-Enerva-59-2… A Wexxian of strong character and will. He became known around the galaxy as his chosen name… Axon! A Karpo word meaning “Warrior”… and few would ever doubt that it was his destiny to be one!

I will not make a long speech at this time… As the first speech should be reserved for Axons own words… his voice and being!”

The lights that lit the area dimmed, yet from the crystal coffin in the centre a blue light began shining…

"Amazing. If only my father was honerable enough to have a burial such as this." Lucian whispered to himself.
