Clay Spore!
« on: May 08, 2007, 02:58:37 am »
Ok I am trying to gather up all the clay figures people made of peoples creatures. Post them if you find them or have made new ones.

I am now the proud owner of my very own Hydro's Naucean figurine! ;D

Ok, here they are, the first 6 Clay Creations that i have done!

My Peskitoriantais:

My Burinee:

Krakow Sam, here is your ViS:

Genesis, here is your Yevon:

And also your Ryndalian:

If you dont mind, i made it green because i didnt know what color it acctually was. If it was green, then yah me!

josasa, here is your Forth:

Now if you dont mind, i put yellow dots instead of brown because i ran out of brown. And i also did not know what the purple things were in the back, so i didnt add those.

Enjoy!

And Opera and AW, i didnt have a chance to go to the store today, so tomorrow i will go and make yours! First priority!

I want to be on the list, but I'll probably want to change my example pic once I do something better, if that's ok.

Name: Inkling
Style: Sculpture
Tools: Clay, The GIMP
Fee: Your undying gratitude
Example:

I'll try to work on an Anubian this week, but it probably won't be until after Wednesday.

Dang, operaghost would beat me to the punch.  Oh well, my Brute ended up a bit... darker.

We'll say that this is one of the first Brutes.  He ended up with a different facial bone structure on account of the roids genetic enhancement, hence the big chin.  The same thing happened to his eyes. (or he has red contacts, you decide)

colored version of my clay Borark:

(the eyes are a bit off, but I suck at using the Gimp and i'm tired of trying)
Ok, time for the next creature.  I would nominate my Gocket, but it's too new and its body structure is too similar to the Borark.

This isn't my first or main idea for an intelligent creature, but I'm going to start with it anyways.  But first, an explanation about my creatures.  All of my drawings suck, or at least they aren't as good as I want them to be.  But I can sculpt a little better than I can draw, so...

This is a Gocket

The Gockets are a generally peaceful and easy going race of skinny, monopod amphibians. Their home planet is dominated by marshes, swamps and bogs. The three spikes attached to the bottom of their heads are sensory organs that use sonar to help a Gocket find its way through the murky waters of their planet.

Like I said, these aren't my main creatures, but if you want, I could go into a little more detail.

By my watch, I made the deadline by 4 minutes.

(try to ignore the green aura around his feet)

all by netherflare:

Ok Necro, hope this is what you were looking for!

and

i tried to get them in a certain position, but this type of clay wont let me do it like the others did

Here you go Hydro, your E3 Masterpiece

one question though, how come you didnt make the Naucean there?

haha, i guess ill join that thread then!

here is my sisters Tinae

glad you like it

I have some bad news though, Opera, your creature keeps falling apart! lol. I just used Gorilla glue and put more clay on in the falling pieces and it is now back in the oven with the Kangorans and the Snout.

But i do have the Omic right now. Tell me if the picture is more clear because i did move away a little and zoomed and stuff.

Now i wish it was just the regular colors instead of me painting it, because it would probably have been better. But still hope you like

Ok, here is a Kangoran

I wished i made the arms longer and the back arch more, but if i did, it may have collapsed in the oven

The Snout is finished, but i have to go, so i will upload it later!

YES, so awsome! *drools over  cute little clay Kangorian* I cant wait to get that in the Kangorian Thread. Thanks alot! ;D

Drum Roll Please....

Ta Da!

the images are kind of blurry, im sorry, but i am using a differnet camera because the other one is recharging!

Hope you like!

Ok, tried my best for the Quillaran beceause i had to mix regular clay with hardening clay to sort of come out with that color along with baking it

And then the Auyuelcliad

Torpal is ALMOST done. Just have to put a second coat of paint. Should be here tomorrow unless i drop it!

Ok shadowlord, here is a holgasad:

Some of the colors are off because i just didnt have them

And the Kazea:

Because i didnt want to waste the red color, i made them because they are the only ones that i know that are red!

and finaly, my snout!

Ok Xeno, here is your Snout

now if i tried to make it stand on its hands/legs, then it probably would have fallen over in the oven and cooked in a weird position, so i made it lay down on its back with its arms out if that was al right.

haha, good times.

Since there are now more creatures, maybe i should start up again. Though i do owe a few people their creatures that i promised i would have made. And i was suppose to ship a few of them out that i never got to.

Wow, I didn't know that you had made so many clay versions, Netherflare.  I might start taking requests, too, except that I'm so behind on making my own creatures.
Probably not a Goat, either.

As long as it is noted that I am the father of introducing clay figurines to the Spore CC. :)

Thanks, Veraal.
A guide, Yokto?  Well, it looks like Netherflare and I have different techniques, since she bakes hers and I just reuse the same piece of clay.  I cheat a bit, too, and use some extra internal supports.
Probably not a Goat, either.

Well i guide can inculde both techniques. Also i think there is a need for a photo guide becuse taking photos of small models is hard. If you know a little bit more about photography you can get great results. I know some theory. I could write a basic guide about photography if needed but im not a photographer my self. It would be better if there was someone writing the guild that hade a little more pratical skill.

And internal skeletons are not cheating. I used it and professionals do to. How do you think they keep those posses? The figure isn't entirely scilicon you know.

i had to cheat to make the Torpals by using some toothpicks inside the arms and legs. I maked the second half of the requests i got, but the first ones were out of that crayola clay thing that dries up in like 15 minutes.

If ppl really want their creature done, i can do it again. But if they ask now it will be a little delayed because i have finals and EOCT's.

Most of my creatures have a paperclip skeleton, or at least enough of one to hold up their weight.  For example, my first creature, the chirtso.

Taking pictures of the little figures is tricky, but I think mine will be better now that I have a better light source and place to take the pictures than in my dorm room.

Now that I think about it, I already owe a few people some clay creatures.  After I do that, I might take some requests.
