Monkeys new step in evolving..?(Title changed)
« on: May 01, 2007, 04:07:03 am »
I red in a magazine today that some monkeys are trying to hunt other animals with sticks, you know how humans did it in the stone age.

Does this mean the some monkeys are going to be sort of smart humans again?

This is old news.

Chimps More Evolved Than Humans

I think the title is a little misleading, I read the article, they didn't say they were more
advanced or evolved, just saying that they have more genes or something, more as a
difference than an advancement. On topic: Kinda scary but still, becoming a sapient
being takes 100s of thousands of years, look at human evolution and you'll see what I
mean.
You Heard it!

anime is cool. thats a fact.

Chimps More Evolved Than Humans

Argh! That title is absurd. Nothing can actually be 'more evolved' than anything else. Both that and the subject of this thread calls up one of those awful 'ladders of life' where humans are at the 'top' and everything else is somehow striving towards humans. Bad science.
Not only that, but of course monkeys are evolving. Everything that can reproduce is evolving all the time.

I suspect monkeys, chimps and indeed humans have been observed hunting with sticks because we all divereged from the same, relatively intelligent, common ancestor. Humans and chimps have just 'grown up' in an environment that encouraged the use of tools and put a positive selective pressure on the tool-use traits. Most monkeys did not.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

You're right monkeys are capable of evolving, they become Homo habilis at level 18 and Homo sapiens at level 32.
What have you got against intellectual midgets? They're quite smart little guys as far as i can tell.
