Also consistently lower in terms of innovation and economic growth.

Socialism is the choice of equality over equity. Capitalism is the reverse.

Daxx, you can use statistics to prove ANYTHING.

But without statistics, you can't prove anything. The onus is on you to provide them.

Besides which, I asked for a source, not statistics.

Ha.  Facts.  You can use facts to prove anything.  Even things that are true.

What I'm saying is that you can use the same statistics to prove 2 different and contadictory points.

You sound like you've never heard of socialism. You know, we are in the internet age.

You do realise that pretty much all communist countries in history have had horrendous human rights records, and failed.

Socialism and communism don't work.

And we need factories. Actually, the demand would be too great for everything without them. Prices would rocket, people would starve etc.

Socialism and communism are not the same thing. Communism is purely political. Even so, there have never been real socialist governments in the world. Stalin and Castro werent/arent socialists. If Castro was a socialist, he wouldnt be a tyrant.

And Im against factories as the stronghold of capitalism. I dont mean burn them down so economics go berserk. I mean burn em as in lets get rid of this inhuman social system.

Krakow, what does that have to do with anything? Really, I wanna learn. I personally have been interested in how scandinavian people have done so well managing cultural growth and education.

Denmark is the new technology king - All the scandinavian countries are on the Top 10.

Oh fun, "sources" to destroy.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1363818.ece
Does not conclusively prove that global warming is caused by non-human factors. Furthermore, is written by a guy trying to sell his book. Neither supports the statement, nor is reliable. Scratch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming_controversy
Just so you know, Wikipedia is not a good source. The article fails to conclusively prove that global warming is caused by non-human factors. Furthermore, it actually goes against the contention. FTA:
"Among climate scientists there is consensus that global warming is primarily caused by human activities such as fossil fuel burning and deforestation." Scratch.

http://www.physorg.com/news2422.html
Doesn't even have anything to do with what you said. It just offers an alternative explanation for sea ice melting, not global warming. Scratch.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/02/11/warm11.xml
This is a news story based on a press release, not an actual scientific source, so this is also not a good source. But note that it isn't stated that there is conclusive proof anywhere. In fact, it says the theory is controversial. This is probably the strongest one so far if only because there isn't enough information to discredit it straight away. However, a little trawling shows these criticisms:

http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/03/cosmoclimatology-tired-old-arguments-in-new-clothes/
But let's not lose sight of the fact that this has yet to conclusively prove that global warming is not anthropogenic, which was the original contention. Scratch.

http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/04/12/201235
This isn't a source that has anything to do with what you said. Scratch.

Here's a tip - sources have to support the contention you made, and have to be relevant to the specific claim, not just the topic as a whole.

Nope, sorry, that's the network readiness index.

EDIT: Also, lawl blind patriotism from Smileyman. It's fun to watch.

Because the Scandinavian countries are socialist and they've kept their countries nice by having extremely high taxes.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

A culture of innovation does not equal innovation. That article has nothing to say about innovation or economic growth aside from poor journalism.

Also, picking one tiny news article about one insignificant index does not constitute disproof of the trend.

You know, you haven't actually shown us any proof of the trend in the first place.

Just pointing that out.
Not a winner anymore.

Okay, that's fair enough. I guess it's not common knowledge for everyone.

I'll go look for data.

EDIT: I can't find any extended time series data on actual innovation (not cultures). That's irritating.
