OOOH SEGA HOW I MISS THEE
« on: March 19, 2005, 06:23:56 pm »
This is my public outcry for how much i miss Sega's consoles.

My first console was a Sega Genesis and i still remember getting it on Christmas morning and playing Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 and Lightning force till my thumbs became sore red and had the indentations of the A, B. and C buttons permanently etched into them. then Sega (wanting to give new life to the genesis) released the 32x which i felt was worth buying for Doom alone.

I purchased the Sega Saturn which i still play sometimes. and the the little white box that could came out and i was in love. Sega Dreamcast was in my opinion The greatest console of the "new" generation. it had great games like Sonic Adventure 1&2 and Shenmue (my favorite game), the odd wild Seaman, Space channel five, and Jet Grind Radio. The DC was such a great little system (and the first to have an internet connection. I was truely shattered when Sega stopped developing for the Dreamcast and then with PS2 comming along that all but put the nail in the coffin of the best console that most people didnt own.

and now that Sega has resigned itself to being a 3rd Party developer i am even more sad to think that the once powerfull company that sat proudly in the "big 2" (snes and genesis) won't have a console again in the forseeable future

I still love Sega but it's not the same playing their games on Xbox

Everyonce in a while I like to dust off my Dreamcast, pay a little Shenmu and Sonic Adventure, and remember the good times. The AI of those Chao's scared the crap out of me. I swear one of mine was homicidal. My first game on the Dreamcast was Armada, my family played it so much.

Seaman was just great. Nothing else quite like that. That game was so damn strange ... that's I'm not even sure what it was now that I think about it.

I loved when you picked him up in your hand and he began to sing.

I miss the original Crazy Taxi and Soul Calibur on Dreamcast.  :'( There was something magical and incredibly addictive about them. The sequels on the nextgen consoles never lived up to the originals.

Yeah, and those Sonic Chao's were creepy.  :o

Sega was my first consule

First game I got was Sonic 2 and then Got Mortal Kombat 2 *points at avatar* then and played that forever.

Thje problem was that Sega was always a step behind everything else and they lost many of thier game producers when the ps1 was released in japan after nintendo backstabbed sony which lead to the creation of the playstation.

Like the Sega Cd for instance had less then 40 games on it which got discontinued.

Sega could of stayed in the business if they were ahead or right at the same level of the other companies, but the sega genesis was ahead of its time in my opinion.

Wholy crap, Soul Calibur was perhaps the very best game ever. I actually played that game every single day for over a year and never got bored of it once (this was against other people mind you). I played that game so much that when I changed the difficulty level to the very hardest level (it went something like easy, medium, hard, very hard, insanely hard, nightmare hard, impossibly hard) we could destroy the computer without taking a hit. Now that was a great game! I probably played that game alone more than I have played my PS2 and Xbox combined (okay, maybe not).

The best was that we used to have tournaments in Soul Calibur every day where we would have the computer randomly pick 8 characters for each player with the winner the person who made it to the end. You really had to be the master of every character and arena in order to win those tournaments. Ah the Dreamcast was so much fun.

I never got it for the DC, but I loved the one on the GameCube.

Some of my favorite console games have been sega games.

Panzer Dragoon Saga -- LOVED that.  So different than most RPGs at the time.  Combat was unforgettable.
Burning Rangers -- One of the few platformers I've been any good at.
