BAM!Christmas Special!"Get smarter" won!
Generation 50 (Yay!)

A new species has migrated into the jungle. This little flying insect-like creature is called a Santa Claw and eats other little flying animals such as the Cutterfly. Santa Claws use their suction cups on their rear ends to attach to branches. While hanging upside down, they look out for Cutterflies passing by. If prey moves close enough to be within the Santa Claw's mantis-like limbs, the Santa Claw will snap forward and catch the prey in a matter of split seconds. Santa Claws have changed their first pair of wings into hard covers where they can hide their vulnerable wings beneath. Despite this protection, Santa Claws are rather rich in protein and many different animals have started to add the Santa Claws to their diet.
Cyto is no exception there. Since the Santa Claws are a much richer food source than many other plants or animals, Cytos have started to use Santa Claws as their main diet. The increased income of proteins allowed their brains to grow larger, which in turn allowed them to use more and more complicated hunting strategies, turning their brain development into a circle. Indeed, Cyto's brains have increased so far that they are now able to use simple tools, such as the stick in the image above. It is only a very small step until Cytos develop real language and the ability to not only use tools but also to create them. For the first time in the planet's history a species is on the very brink of sapience.
Cyto's intelligence increased to 9 and the Santa Claws have been added to Cyto's diet.

So, we're almost there. We're just one update (or half a year <.<) away from entering the tribal phase. Will you rush it or try to get the best start for Cyto into the new stage? I guess it's only up to you.
