Woo! New poll! Yea!

For poll: Obsidian would create twisted evil spires (my fave!) Diamond would create sky-pierceing crystillian super-structures, Iron would create cold boxes (kinda like the vis. but colder) Silver would create sprawling citys with a spider-web design. And the other and unknown depend on.... what they are.

Keep in mind that they are not exactly the same as their earth counter-parts. For instance, the substance that is picked will be stronger on this planet than on earth.

Type: Warm-blooded Tripedal Tree-Dwelling Vertebrate.
Lifestyle: Incredibly Social Omnivore
Hunt/Forage Success Rate: 25% hunt, 60% forage

Method of Eating Meat: Kills with poison, then tears off chunk and swallows it, or eats whole, depending on size.
Method of Eating Fruit: Puntures with fangs and sucks juice and flesh out.
Reproductive Rate: Reaches sexual maturity at 20 years. Can reproduce at any time of the year.
Gestation: 6 weeks then lays egg.
Offspring incubation: 6-12 months, then the egg hatchs. After that, a larval Azimuth hatches, and crawls up the community nest. Secretes a hardening substance, and develops a pupal shell. After one more year, the pupae cracks, and then a 6 inche long adolescent crawls out.
Number of Offspring: 4 to 8
Offspring Survival Rate (before age of maturity): 75% they are raised in a family group and everyone helps raise the babies.
Locomotion: Two tentacles, tail tentacle; Upside walking, hanging from branches.
Environment: Forest.
Diet: Omnivore; Small-medium tree-dwelling creatures, small-medium terrestrial creatures, fruits.
Size: 2 to 4ft long (females), 3 to 6ft long (males)
100 to 150 lbs (females), 125 to 175 lbs (males)
Lifespan: 150 Gibae years, 200 Earth years.

Update! This is a close up of the eyes and head. The slits on top of the head are its nostrils, and its fangs (there are 4 of them, two on each side) deliver a nerve poison that degrades the nerves. The two bottom ones, and the two top ones move independantly of each other.

What is the point of having the thread if you don't put anything in it?

Good stuff, Doc.  I can see them as being a rather angry race, so they fit how you've had them act so far.

I'll be sure to have my AoH diplomats stay at a safe distance.
Probably not a Goat, either.

Ok, this is only a double post, so that I can bump it up so you can actually see the poll.

I'd rather know more about their culture before I choose.  Like, what do their buildings look like?

Well, it all depends on the material. Obsidian would create twisted evil spires (my fave!) Diamond would create sky-pierceing crystillian super-structures, Iron would create cold boxes (kinda like the vis. but colder) Silver would create sprawling citys with a spider-web design. And the other and unknown depend on.... what they are.

I'm torn between obsidian and silver.  It sounds like you have the most ideas for obsidian and it would produce cooler stuff in general, but I like the sound of the sprawling, spidery cities from silver.
Probably not a Goat, either.
