Software of Interest to Spore Fans
« on: November 25, 2005, 09:32:45 pm »
Today I stumbled across the website of an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo who has made some really cool programs that I thought you guys would be interested in:

http://www.mtl.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~takeo/Welcome.html

Mainly they are tools for creating, manipulating, and animating 2d and 3d shapes very intuitively.

Use those talents you have. You will make it. You will give joy to the world. Take this tip from nature: The woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except those who sang best.

Yeah, pretty cool. A bit unsettling how it knows which shape to draw...

Takeo Igarashi's "Teddy" software is the basis for the monster creation in the Game Cube's "Amazing Island" ("Kaijuu No Shima" or "Monster Island"), as well as the game "Magic Pengel: The Quest For Color" ("Rakugaki Kingdom").  Magic Pengel is closer to Teddy (and hence, the character are stiff), while Amazing Island uses the teddy software to draw onto an animatable skeleton.

Oh! i've rented Amazing Island.  Didn't know it was the same guy behind it all.
