The Teerp
« on: March 26, 2007, 04:01:00 pm »
Hello everyone, I'm BBsman here to show my creature.

Creatures you need to know

The first column of creatures is the creature during the water stage, and the next is the creature current day.

The first creature, the blue one, is the Teerp.(Pronounced Turp)
The second creature, the red/orange/yellow one, is a Fleerp.(Pronounced Flurp)
The third creature, the green one, is a Keerp.(Pronounced Kurp)
The fourth creature, the purple one, is a Purt.

Teerp

If the sprite I used isn't clear enough, here are what the parts look like:

(Credit to Creature editor 3.0 for some of the parts)

Solar System

The Teerp's Solar System consists of 6 planets, as well as the sun, which the Teerp call Fleer, which is the evil god of the Fleerps.

The first planet next to the sun is Hidroe.  It is a core black world and has absolutely no life on it and no moons.

The second planet is the Teerp's home planet, Tarkalp.  It has 1 moon, Unop, which is claimed by the Teerp.  The moon is just a large ocean, home to many creatures.  Tales of intelligent life on this moon have been told, but most of these tales have been dismissed as hoaxes.

The 3rd planet and smallest planet is a ball of gas named Blor.  It is the smallest planet.  The gas is said to be deadly poisonous.  A probe was sent up to check it out, but exploded when it neared the poisonous gas.  It has no moons.

The 4th planet is a the biggest.  It has a thick dark atmosphere which scientists can not see through, so the surface has never been seen.  It has 3 moons, Bale, Fer, and Laung.  Little is known about the moons, except that they are rocky and lifeless.

The 5th(Riv) and 6th(Ver) planet are mysterious planets.  The only known fact about them is that they are both very icy.  Ver has 1 moon, it is also covered in ice.

Tarkalp
Tarkalp consists of 3 main continents.  The first continent, Orp, is the huge island in the middle of the world, as well as the 3 smaller island next to it.  The second continent, Farl, is the second largest island.  The third, Fyle is the 2 islands towards the north.

Water Stage
(If there is an expansion for water, hopefully =/)

The Teerp quickly became one of the dominant species.  This was because of its large mouth, which could swallow fish nearly twice their size.  The Teerp swam in the areas around Orp, which is why they never encountered the Fleerp who swam around Farl.  They traveled in groups of 3-5, called trops, hunting out smaller creatures.  Generally in a trop there was 4 males, and 1 female.  The males fought for leadership, and whoever lead the trop would mate with the female.  The teerp generally laid 10 eggs, but only 5 would survive due to creatures called Purt eating their eggs.  They dominated the oceans for thousands of years.

Creature Stage

After thousands of years of being in the ocean, a primitive species of walking teerp walked onto land.  They could not be on land long, however, and soon returned to the sea.  However, the teerp were not the first creatures to walk on land.  The Keerp had walked on land 500 years before and started populating the ocean side.  The Teerp could easily kill the Keerp, however, and were not afraid of them.  These Teerp had large eyes in order to see Keerp far away.  Keerp soon became the Teerp's food of choice, and they moved onto land fully.  Unfortunately, the Keerp evolved large jaws and a long tail to fight back.  The Teerp adapted claws on its back to kill it's foes easier.  The Purt also began to walk on land.  The Purt became a tough foe, and generally took at least 3 teerp to kill.  The Purt had short arms and long legs.  The Purt took over the shore, but the Teerp moved inland.  The Teerp did not dare go near the ocean shore.

Tribal Stage

The Teerp split up into different tribes.  After many years of peace, war broke out.  It started with Teerps just biting and clawing each other.  Eventually, Teerp started using rocks as weapons.  The rocks were sharp, and after one Teerp noticed this, he discovered that the rocks could be used as tools.  The Teerp then started making weapons called trifles.  The trifles were large wooden forks, held by the claws and generally thrown at foes.  The ovik tree is the common tree.  It is very small, so the Teerp can easily grab the leaves on the top.  The Teerp used these leaves to make huts.  The eldest Teerp was assigned as chieftain, or as they call it, fark.  To signify its leadership, the fark wore a leaf on it's head as well as a gem in its trifle.  With the new weapons and technology, the Teerp could finally defeat the Purt.  They controlled the whole continent of Orp.

Civilization Stage

The Teerp then find out, that by floating on ovik leaves, they can travel across the sea.  A scouting team set out on the boats, unaware of what they would find.  The scouting team arrived at new land,(today Farl) and sought the natives who lived there.  The Fleerp has been living on Farl for many years now.  The Fleerp were not as technologically advanced as the Teerp, they still lived in huts.  The Fleerp were frightened by these strange beings and attacked them.  The Teerp fled back to their homeland and reported the Fleerp's hostility.  They did not return to the island for many years.  A Teerp male named Gerbath then invented the Gerbomile.  This enabled faster transport instead of walking.  Some years after, Gerbath invented a flying transport vehicle.

The Teerp invasion

The army used this transport vehicle to check up on the Fleerp.  The Fleerp had advanced farther in technology and was just starting to build boats.  The Teerp invaded the Fleerp cities with over 300 Teerp.  The Teerp's weapons were much like bazookas, except it shot out trifles.  The Fleerp had very primitive weapons still, rocks andlarge clubs, but they grabbed what they could and fought back.  After much war, the Fleerp eventually defeated the Teerp's forces.  In the end, the Teerp had lost 300 men, while the Fleerp had lost 1200.  The Fleerp were devestated, and swore revenge.

The Enslavement

After the war ended, the Fleerps were devestated.  The Teerp realized they had huge power over the Fleerp.  Not soon after the war, many transports went back to Farl and enslaved some Fleerp.  The Fleerp tried to fight back, but it was no use.  1/3 of the Fleerp population was enslaved.  Most slaves were forced to harvest rotta(as seen in the picture above), a steroid that increased the strength of soldiers.  Another crop that they harvested was kile.  When it is ground up it creates a powder that, when inhaled, made a Fleerp sick for days.  This was given to slaves who misbehaved.  A different effect occured if a Teerp inhaled the drug.  The drug created a feeling of happiness which lasted for hours.  After the effect wore off, the Teerp would get a large headache.  Fleerp slaves were bitter, and many tried to escape.  Even if a slave escaped, it did no good.  They would just be captured by another slave owner and enslaved yet again.

End to Slavery

Not all Teerp agreed with slavery however.  More than half the population disagreed with it, and many protested to have it banned.  After 25 years of protesting and arguing, the Teerp King, Zalu, banned slavery.  Many Fleerp rejoiced, yet there was a catch.  The Teerp refused to return the Fleerp to the homeland due to how expensive it would be.  Instead, they created an isolated area for the Fleerp to live.  The Fleerp homeland soon  recieved the news that their people were free.  The Fleerp leader was displeased with the fact that his people could not return home.  Secretly, he sent a messenger by boat to the isolated area.  The messenger came by night, telling all Fleerps in the isolated area about an uprising requested by the leader.  The Teerp had no idea about this uprising, and were unprepared when it happened.

The Uprising

The uprising took place after dark, when all Teerp were asleep.  Many Teerp woke up to the sounds of Fleerp warcrys, and many panicked.  Some Teerps looked outside their windows to see the many Fleerps riding Keerps, advancing towards Teerp cities.  Teerp fled their homes as the Fleerp attacked, killing anyone in site.  King Zalu quickly ordered all available soldiers to fight the uprising.  The fight between the Fleerp uprising and the Teerp went on for 2 days before reinforcements from the Fleerp homeworld came.  This war would cost lots of funds, and the Teerp needed this money for a top secret project, so the Teerp tried to negotiate with the Fleerp leader.  A meeting was arranged, and the two leaders met.  They managed to work out a deal, the Teerp give some of their territory and return any Fleerp who want to return to their homeland, then the Fleerp promised to retreat the uprising and the homeland reinforcements.  The Teerp and Fleerp relations were wary.  Many Teerp criticized the King, calling him a coward for backing out of the war.  After the secret project was revealed, however, these Teerp agreed that it was worth it.

Space Age

The secret project was a vehicle designed to go into space.  Once the public saw it, all were in awe and could not wait for it to be launched.  The King himself requested to be the first Teerp in space.  All agreed, and the King was suited up to go into space.  The first space suit was very bulky and uncomfortable.  The launch was watched by all Teerps, and as it lifted off, they cheered.  The rocket reached space and the King was amazed by what he saw.  He reported on radio that to the north of the main continent, there was an undiscovered continent.  An exploration team was set up to check out this new island, while the King decided it was time to walk in space.  As the king stepped outside, he said into his radio,"This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen."  He returned to Earth safely and was declared the first Teerp in space.  News of this spread to the Fleerp, who began to work on a space ship of their own.  The new land found was inhabited by no sapient creatures, and was colonated by the Teerp.  The Fleerp soon found out, and also claimed some of the land in the new islands.

Religion

The Teerp have always believed in the god, Termaphra.  They believe the god is the bright blue moon that appears in the night sky every night.  Termaphra is a kind god, and legend says that in the beginning of time the Teerp were fish.  One brave Teerp spoke to Termaphra,"Oh, why must we dwell on the ocean floor?"  Termaphra granted the Teerp with legs.  Termaphra Is basically a giant Teerp.  It is believed that if you kneel in the House of Termaphra and make a wish, it will be granted.  There are 50 Houses of Termaphra, located all over the world.  They are generally very small and can only fit 10 Teerp at a time.  Teerps in the modern age are more skeptical about Termaphra's existance.

Drugs

Drugs became a huge problem during the space age.  Graffle is a drug which is inserted with a needle, green and sticky, this gunk causes Teerp blood streams to clog up and die.  Gaffle causes the Teerp to hallucinate.  Zarf is a drug that is inhaled, and causes he Teerp to have few minutes of joy and happiness.  Then the drug makes the Teerp very sad for 3 days.  The most common drug, however, is kile.  The drug created a feeling of happiness which lasted for hours.  After the effect wore off, the Teerp would get a large headache.  Often times, the drug would cause Teerps to not remember what they had been doing.  During the effect of the drug, Teerp eyes turn strange colors.  As seen in the picture, we see two Teerp taking kile and ignoring the sign behind them saying,"No kile".

Young

Teerp generally lay 2-4 eggs per litter.  It is said, that if 5 are born, that you are the reincarnation of Termaphra herself.  This has never happened, but many believe that it will happen someday.  Teerp are born without arms, but they do have legs.  Eggs hatch within 4 months of the egg being layed.  Young stay at home till age 5, when they start their education.

Education

A Teerp learns all the basic subjects(math, writing, etc) until they are 10.  After that, they learn only one subject that will prepare them for their chosen job.  Most of the time the Teerp's parents choose for them, because they are too young to know which job to choose.  If a Teerp misbehaves at school, they must go home.  Doing this causes much embarrassment to the parents of the Teerp and the Teerp themself.  At the age of 24, the Teerp leaves school and goes off to start his job.  The picture above shows two young Teerp with backpacks, obviously not past puberty due to their small claws.

Puberty

Around 10, when they advance past basic school, puberty starts for Teerp.  Teerp start to become attracted to each other.  Sometimes, red bumps called zimples appear on the face of one going through Puberty.  At this age, Teerp with bad teeth will get braces to fix them.  Female Teerp may start wearing makeup.  The bigger the claws, the "hotter" a Teerp is.  By 14, a Teerp has fully gone through Puberty.

Cars

Teerp generally use ovik trees for everything they make, and Teerp cars are no exception.  The first car ever created was the Gerbomile.  The car was made out of a few ovik leaves, with a simple engine and 3 wheels.  The steering wheel was simply a pole that the driver steered with the legs, turning the wheels.  Gerbo's design was then improved upon by his grandson, Palrano.  The length was increased greatly, the engine was improved allowing it to go at much faster speeds, and the wheel in the back got bigger.  The final car is used today by most Teerp citizens.  It was invented by Palrano's grandson, Gerlap.  Gerlap was hot on summer days during driving, so a leaf was added above the driver's seat to protect the Teerp from the sun.  He also wanted to drive his son around to places, so he added a seat on the back of the car.  The engine allowed greater turning and speed.  Shortly after this one was invented, Gerlap created the Gerlap racing league.  Every year Teerp compete for the Gerlap trophy.  In later years, Fleerp were accepted in the racing league as well.

Airplanes

The Teerp did not develop an airplane till modern age, about 10 years before the uprising.  A Teerp by the name of Zasch Polar had a dream of flying above the oceans of Tarkalp.  He attempted making creating this flying machine for 5 years, but failed every time.  He gave up, but all was not lost.  Within a month, his son, Chaz Polar, started working with Zasch's designs.  Within a year, Chaz had created the first functional flying machine.  Due to all of Zasch's hard work, Chaz let Zasch test out the machine by flying all the way from Orp to Farl.  All gathered around to watch the machine lift off.  It was a glorious moment when it was out of site, but the excitement did not last long.  Zasch never arrived at Farl.  They never, even in the space age, found the remains of Zasch's ship.  Many claim that "alien invaders" abducted the machine, but no one takes these Teerp seriously.  Chaz continued making more of the flying machines, which was name "Polairplane", and soon became rich.

Invaders

Many claim that they have been abducted by and experimented on by invaders.  The appearance is shown above in home shot footage of the aliens.  Most claim it is a hoax, but some believe that this is hardcore evidence of the existance of aliens.  But that's just crazy talk, I mean come on.  Everyone knows that there's no other life out there.

More info coming.  Work in progress.

I like how it is two species on one planet. I can't wait to see how they'll deal with the seedy things that go on in this galaxy.
