Must admit i've never seen a Stephen King book-made-film be any good, bar The Shining (i think that story is a bit stupid so i don't like the film anyway), so yeah, Stephen King ones would be good.

I just remembered-the old kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix. That would be good too.

What about The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile?  Those were great movies.

Ender's Game, a non-crappy version of starship troopers, and Eon!

I'd like to second the Lovecraft idea, and Eon.

Also I wonder if the Foundation Trilogy they had in pre-production ever got off the ground.  Last I saw it was being ruined by hollywood.  I'd also like to see Planescape: Torment, even though it's so off-the-wall that it can't have a hound's chance in hell of being done properly.

I was just going to ask if anyone had read Eon, I picked it up for $3 in a used book shop at an airport.  Hope it's good.
Staying on topic, I read mostly history and boring books like that but, I'll second Ender's Game.

I'll also second Stranger in a Strange Land. I has everything, action, drama, comedy, even boobies, lots of boobies!!

Seriously though, it's a very deep and thoughtful story.

The 2nd HitchHikers Book but done a lil better than the 1st I my self didn't hate the 1st movie it could have been done better but even I know the story of Auther Dent Changes in every incarnation. So RatEotU should hopefully follow the book a little closer.

I know I'm not sure what that whole thing about getting coodinates for Magrathea is all about seeing as how the point of the Improbablity drive is to find a planet that would be incredibly improbable for you to suddenly find.

I would second the Ender's game idea, the books are awesome, and if a movie was done right I would watch it several times over.

Night Watch by Terry Pratchett, if you switched the names of the characters you wouldn't have known it was Pratchett. This book was so different than his others, not as silly, but characteristic. Even a little emotional at times. Also, I would love to hear 'All The Little Angels' orchestrated...  ;D
Yeah, [Kishmond] came back from Africa, but the ponies have him now.

You mean third the idea? Someone already seconded it. I fourth it.

I realy liked ender's shadow, kind of apealed to the outcast and intellegence in me,

anyone ever see the Old movie "the day after" kind of a nuke scare and PA roled into one, i read the book "Warday" and thought: when's the last time i saw a nuke scare movie or even a nuke in a movie(T3) but i think it would make an interesting movie.
