Originally, this thread was devoted to some of the WALL-E announcements coming out, but that seems too limited a topic at this time to have a full thead about it that could last and be of major use. For this reason, I've decided to change the thread into an all-purpose Pixar thread for discussing their past successes, future endeavors, why Cars wasn't nearly as good as The Incredibles, etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 1st promotional logo for the film, due to hit in June 2008.

If you hadn't heard, this is the next major film coming out from Pixar. It's being written and directed by Andrew Stanton, the man behind Finding Nemo. Though there's been a huge veil of secrecy about the project for some time, information is starting to come out.

In some ways, it appears to be one of the more important films in Pixar's history due to it taking various chances and experimenting heavily with what's been done in animation (Western animation, that is) before. Long stretches of the film without dialogue, set in a time in which mankind has abandoned the Earth, and focuses on the last operational Waste Allocation Load Lifters - Earth class robot left to clean up the place.

If you want detailed information on the film's story, though not quite in the way of spoilers, hop on over here and check it out. Being a huge Pixar fan, I'm looking forward to seeing what Stanton can bring to the table that's different.

Wait, so it's not another (insert anthropomorphic household object/animal phyla) film? Awesome! I'm so surprised Disney would let a title so ambitious go through.

FUN FACT: The popular Disney animation "The Land Before Time" was originally planned to have NO dialogue. This, however, was scrapped.

But Disney is now under the control of Steve Jobs... who owns Pixar. So its only natural he would let it through.

He's on the Board, yeah. Which means he'll be in a great position to okay damn near anything Pixar comes up with. Of course, that would have happened whether they were officially part of Disney or not, but it's nice to have the massive corporation behind their projects.

The Land Before Time was actually made by Don Bluth, not Disney.

That's why it doesn't suck.

Don Bluth.

The Secret of NIMH.

I will forever love him for that film, if for no other reason.

As much as I like Pixar and their movies, I would prefer to see a traditional art movie from Disney.

Or one not subtly misanthropic?honestly though, the premise(Humanity having become lazy, grotesquly fat slobs is assuredly misanthropic, right?and if not, what is it?
