The Senators of the P'aU have decided to play a quick game of hoverball while the other parties continue to decide where to place their vote.  ;)

"We have already placed our vote, and besides the Liberal Party's obvious 'No' vote, we anxiously await what the Conservative Party decides is good for the Republic."

The Conservative Party votes in favor (Aye! 73) of all three bills currently being decided upon.

:In the same breath:

The Liberal Party votes against all current bills (Nay! 87), excluded the civil service bill from which they obstain.

The Liberal voting has knocked the Reduction of Taxes bill out of question.

Manas Mordril was fed up with the Liberal Party. His spies had discovered a secret passage into the Liberal leader's ancient villa. This would prove useful in the plan.

In the Senate, a Social-Liberal senator was proposing a new plan; "People, hear me! It is time for us to colonize the Gamma system! We have attempted to establish a settlement there before, 67 years ago. Today, our science has furthered and it is time to try again! Expeditions to catalogue the wildlife on these planets will prove useful in our understanding of how life works. We expect the Scientific League will give us full backing. The funding has already been taken care of, but due to current law, all space expeditions must be approved."

OOC: Someone needs to control the 'Other" party/ies, or else a veto will make it fail regardless.

"The P'aU agrees that colonizing a new system would be highly beneficial to our Republic. We support this motion, but with this caveat:

65% of the new habitable land of this system should be distributed free-of-charge to the worthy poor of the Delta and Gamma Worlds. Many have been farmers or miners their whole lives, so they know how to work the land without industrial amenities. Not only would this provide a solid base for later settlement by the 'upper classes', but it would also give those farmers and miners an opportunity to rise out of poverty.

Further, we ask that the 'Gamma System' be re-named... as it is confusing with the 'gamma system' classification of our mining worlds."

"We are, of course, for this expansion. We see no harm coming from it."

When is the next election?

Yes, I am aware of the irony.

"Yes, the Lower Classes may use this as an opportunity to rise rom poverty, rather than begging for money from respectable citizens. Since it was our party that made the motion, we propose the system be named the Mordril system, after our party-leader."
