I forgot I had this game (I was looking for my robosport disks).

MindRover is a vehicle programming game. There are tracked, wheeled, and hovercraft that you program to do combat, race, etc. There are even team events.

You program the vehicles by adding command pieces (which are basically code snippets) and connecting them with line. Each code snippet has settings you program in. You then put your robot in the arena and go to the tack at hand. To get the idea, you might want to try the mini-java game at the website (http://www.mindrover.com/mindrover/mindrover.htm) or download the demo.

I only tinkered with it, but there were guys that made combat robots that just made your jaw drop.

Also, you can design your own code pieces if you knew how to program.

They used to have contests when the game came out. I won the 'most annoying vehicle' award. :)

Anyone else play this?

I was always wondering about MindRover. I might give it a try. Your post had me looking around for something similar and I found a few that look interesting. Im still deciding on which one I want to try.

I used to mess with roboforge all the time. I made this one robot that was basically a core covered in shields and spikes. And that was it. Oh, it spun too.

I have Roboforge, but it was buggy and I never did find a patch for it. Maybe I should look again. It looked REALLY cool, but it crashed constantly.
