Tekken 360?
« on: January 01, 2007, 04:02:42 pm »
According to "sources within IGN" (the same source who said VF5 would come to Xbox 360) Namco is currently working on a Xbox 360 version of Tekken 6, that would appear winter 2007, just short after the PS3-version.

Is Tekken 6 the next exclusive Sony is going to lose and where will it stop? Will Sony have any exclusive important franchises left at the end of 2007

TK6 Xbox360 will be released in winter 2007, supporting Live.
TK6 PS3: release date still unknown.

The downloadable TK5/DR is there because of a deal between Namco and Sony that Namco must bring at least one new Tekken game to PS3 in 2006. It should have been Tekken 6, but due to the development problem and the PS3 shortage, Namco brings TK5/DR so that the contract is not violated.

IGN had also hinted at a big namco game coming to the 360

If this turns out to be true, then it would be another massive blow to Sony.  I'm not much of a Virtua Fighter fan, I didn't care much when they announced they'd be releasing that for the 360, but Tekken is one of the reasons I'll probabely eventually get a PS3.  If it loses that exclusive as well, then I don't think Final Fantasy will be enough of a reason for me to get one, even when they do become dirt cheap.

Is Tekken really that big of a deal? I used to play it all the time at the movie theater and stuff (Paul rocks, if I remember rightly), but other than just seemed like a really generic fighter. I don't have a PSanything, and I'm not a fighting fan, cept for SSBM, so I'm no judge. Just curious.

I played Tekken a couple times at Arcades and at friend's houses. Seemed like an incredibly dull button-masher. The only good thing I remembered about it was that you can play as a bear.

And "Whoop some panda ass!" shouldn't be the sole selling point of a game.
