I'm really looking forward to it too. I preordered it from Gamestop along with Untold Legends, and the manager kept pestering me to come to this midnight opening to get it but I'm not sure if I'm quite that excited about it.  :P

Honestly though, ignoring the different demographics the devices are aimed at, do you think the PSP or the DS is going to dominate the portable market in the upcoming months? PSP is coming in with 24 launch titles and a bevy of titles confirmed for release a bit later, but then again the meat of the DS' confirmed games are coming out at the same time, including Animal Crossing and Advance Wars DS.

As for myself I think the PSP is a step above and beyond the DS, if only because its a portable media player. They said the battery runs down pretty fast, but I'm gonna say that the new battery Sony is proposing will solve some of those problems (30% more game time or some such).

The PSP is going to be a killer. The only problem with it is that it's $250, and that put it in the realm of electronics and not a "gaming" device. The DS is a toy while the PSP is a media device ... that also plays games. It is going to be interesting to see if Sony doesn't get too greedy with the PSP and try to make it an everyman device (like they have with their new walkman which plays the "Sony" media format).

If you haven't seen on yet some of the gaming stores are starting to have demo models which you can play. Trust me, once you see the screen you will be blown away. I have never seen a color screen so small and so clear in my life. Heck with the games, I can't wait to watch Spiderman 2 on this thing!

Well Sony is certainly cornering their own little pocket of the movie market. They recently got Kill Bill, National Treasure and a bunch of other more mainstream blockbusters for the UMD format. And at least theres a better selection of games out now. :P DS had a launch of like six titles. Three of them were sports. PSP has a launch lineup of 24 titles, plus like another 12 in the coming month.

Going to take a chance and try and get mine at good ole Wally World. Did not like the looks of any of the preorder packages and have always gotten screwed over by Ebgames. Fifa, Wipeout will probably be my first picks. Along with a huge memory stick.

Thats the one problem I'm seeing. I want a 1GB Pro Duo but they're like 120 dollars. :P  I don't like paying 120 dollars for something that small.  :'(

The PSP sucks... battery life. :P

You know... I could buy a Nintendo DS, a DVD player, and some games and movies to play on both for the price of that... that... thing. <_<

I absolutely love how everybody has no trouble accepting the horrible hearsay about the PSP, but they totally ignore the fact that...well...lets see here. ITS A PORTABLE MEDIA PLAYER. MP3s, Photos, MP4 Video, any videos on UMD, upgradeable size Pro Duo memory sticks, not to mention any good games that come out for it. Like Lumines. They say that the battery lasts five or six hours playing Ridge Racers for PSP. I don't think thats bad. And a +30% power batttery is going to be released by Sony soon to get the complainers to quiet down. You can get a DS, but it has crap for games. You can get a DVD player (for under 100 dollars and portable? Doubtful) but you have to carry cards of DVDs instead of Pro Duo cards or tiny UMDs. Instead, put any full length movie on a Memory Stick Pro Duo, watch it on your PSP. After that, view some magazine scans or photos you put on there too. Then listen to a few dozen of your favorite songs. I guarantee you won't be doing it for more than six hours unless you're on a transcontinental flight.

*coughmariozeldaandallofthoseotherreallycoolgamecubtitlescough*

I'm just too damn faithful to Nintendo to pay for a PSP and give Sony more foothold in the handheld department. ^_^

The Gamecube isn't the DS. Thats for sure. So you really can't compare the great games for the Gamecube  to the crappy games for the DS until a Zelda game or an Animal Crossing or Smash Brothers game comes out on the DS.

The DS has a total of 15 games out since it launched last year and none of them has won any awards.
The PSP is going to launch with 24 games, and Lumines has already won Gamespot's Editor's Choice Award.
