Battle Royale

Yes, another Japanese thing. Don't kill me SmileyMan.

Anyways, the premise of this book is that the government of "The Republic of Greater East Asia" (A fictional facist national socialist government based off of Japan/China/Korea) holds the "Program" every few years. The "Program" is an event where the government takes a Third Year Junior High Class to a remote island. There, the students are forced to kill each other until only one remains. Sound interesting yet? This follows one such class. Each student is given a weapon, bread, water, a map and a compass. Besides that they have what they brought with them (They don't actually know they're in the "Program" until they're actually ON the island) for the original "Study Trip". It's quite interesting. I don't want to say anything more, lest I spoil certain parts. By the way, I myself am not finished yet, so don't spoil anything for me, either.

Sidenote: The book was originally in Japanese, but it was translated to English. Needless to say it stirred up a lot of controversy in Japan. Not so much here, interestingly enough.

Schrodinger will kill you like a cat in a box. Maybe.

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection.

Televison - A medium. So called because it is neither rare nor well-done.

Keep an open mind. Just make sure it's not so open your brain falls out.

I have never read the book but I watched the movie which is in japanese but subtitled. There is also a Battle Royale 2 movie but it isn't as good.

Perhaps when you finish the book you should watch the movie?
Dont look at me, I'm irrelevant!

Is it as bloody as I think it will be?

Probably. It's pretty quirky as many japanese movies are but I'd definitely recommend it.

Don't worry man. I don't hate books; books can be burned.  :)

The book is very good. The movie is also very good. The movie sequel; not so much (still some interesting cinematography, though).

The move was a little scary, to see old friends kill each other in order to survive, creepy

I only saw a little bit of the sequel, but it looked crap (the only word I can think of)

A wise Surface to Air Missile once said about marrying 9 year olds in Saudi Arabia "Its pretty hard to tell if a 9 year old is going to be hot when she grows up, kids change a lot, usually, seems like a bad system. That cute little nine year old you married could end being a fat, zitty teenager."

I tried to show Battle Royale (the best japanese movie I have seen) to my girlfriend but after she saw the intro scene with the bloody girl she freaked out and we watched south park instead.
