Well it has to start somewhere, and it looks more practical to me than the falling mist method I've seen on some "future tech" shows. Although I think these are the same guys behind that method. Sci Fi shows have just spoiled us with visions of holograms emanating from smal discrete apertures. The methods used for the first televisions were equally bulky and bad looking when they were first shown. That said I dont think the rotating mirror method is what will do it for holographic media.
