I noticed fairly quickly.
It took me a while...
There's a poll in this topic? Since when!?

The reason nobody used it is because it kept going down, so nobody noticed,  If everyone with a mic that uses IRC went on Vent, it would be active.  Also, I want it back because the inflections in ones voice can't be described in text.

Plus I never get the time to sit around on the IRC.  If it was via vent, I could keep doing what I'm doing and talk at the same time.

Well, I just keep the IRC going and check every now and then.  It works fine mostly.

We can do Ventrilo again if you'd like. Brandon and I both know how to set up a server. I won't be on it tonight but I can get a server going if you'd like.

...And approached the head of the lion as it feasted on the spam was a seeker of knowledge. For a great script he was learning so that he may pass its knowledge on to others. With no fear of being smitten by the goddess and wife of Lord AsciiHex4D he stood before the lions and the spams to seek enlightenment. "Grant me guidance..." he proclaimed to the masses scatter among the messes, "... so that I might teach others of the Strain of this text."

"Maketh an announcement of public service!" was the cry from the doomsayer, taking a break from his bell ringing, and setting down his picket sign of 'The end of spam is nigh!'

"What be a PSA, old fool?" asked the seeker, but he could not be heard. For a fog drifted through the forums, darkness was falling, and the thunder of the Gods' mighty ban hammer engulfed the lands.

Yet what you posted, was not deep.

Why do I suddenly have the BatMan theme song stuck in my head?

How do you set up a server?  Show me step by step.

You can download the server software from this site. And from there all you really have to do is run the "Ventrilo Server" executable file that you'll end up with and you have your server. You can go to this site to find your server's IP and then you give that IP to the people you wish to chat with. At least that's how I've always done it.

One problem that I run across is that sometimes I can't join my own server.

You realize that was all about what you posted, right?

You know what... when this thread gets reported 5 times within 3 or so hours, and each time it's a different person you know this thread needs to cool down a little. Especially since all of those reported posts were perfectly valid complaints. This topic is locked for clean up. I'll reopen after you've all cooled down or I've cleaned the thread. Which ever happens first.

67.247.79.203

This is the IP it gave me.  I ran the software.  Did I do it right?  How do I get the port number?

I've never had to fiddle with the port before so I can't say. It should just work... but I can't connect to your server so I guess it didn't.

Hmm...  I don't know what the port number does though.  Could you set one up, I clearly don't have the expertise or ability.

The port number is for the specific channel, since multiple channels fit under a single ip.  You need to give us the default, we need to enter that to connect.
