Intergalactic Travel and trading
« on: December 03, 2006, 05:07:07 pm »
What about when you have a colony how are your resources transported to your home world, or are all resources like credit, so you can build colonies anywhere with out having to worry how they get to where you’re building in the galaxy. Do you have transport ships, if so can you have space fighter escorts, space lanes, star gates etc.

I suppose transporting / trading goods with your allies won’t be a problem but what about enemies.

I think colonies just constantly give you points. I don't think you need to transport any of it anywhere or spend it in a specific place. I guess it just gets added to your overall points which you can spend on new abilities, etc...

Yes it's true, it would make the whole process a lot more interesting, and then you could have the possibility of being raided on the way and have escorts and stuff...

I am really curious on how the space age will work out. We have never seen a spacecraft in space except for the players own UFO. I'm also trying to figure out how intergalactic war will be handled (as when the Greevils attacked Screeble's homeworld), 'cause if there wasn't another fleet to attack and destroy then it would be pretty pointless.

It would be intresting because you could raid other civilisations transport ships/ supplies and weaken there infrastructure.

i think what you all mean is transgalactic. intergalactic is beetwen at least 2 galaxies and i don't think that would be possible...but unnecessary to say that it woul be cool :)
i would say that, when you fly in your ufo to a planet an build a colony, you just "mark" where the colony will be build and at the same moment a colonyship starts from you homeplanet to this planet. this would be more realistic than a little ufo that carries materials and colonists in its cargo-bay....
i hope to there are more spaceships than my ufo, if a interstellar war brakes out. if this is not so, it would become a lot of stress....the best would be that it will became immediately a rts-game. but then the question is: how would you handle the fleetbuild if you're in the ufo...?
will i have a "standart"-fleet, or will i have to instantly build one? but what happens if i run out of ressources/money to pay them?
also some questions that just occured to me:
will i see spaceships travelling between my and foreign colonies like the vehicles in the city/civ-phase?
what about secession? can my colonies have the desire to become independant?

I mean inter planetary and interstellar transportation. I know most colonies would be independent, but if they needed something really important they might have to get it transported to there colony from there home planet, that would mean tracking a lone transport ship to its home would, could be fun.
