This is the Ice Demon. It is the most efficient hunter of the icy planet of Dardiria. Whereas most creatures on this planet are covered in heavy fur to protect them from the blizzards and icy rains, the Ice Demon thrives in this weather and, due to its high body temperature, can outrun almost anything. Due to its high profile, it often lies down in the snow, allowing itself to be covered by it, waiting for a herd of herbivores to move by, on their treks to the milder climated equator. Its whiskers at the sides of its mouth and behind its legs can detect nearby movement in the snow, whereas their 'feelers' at the tops and backs of their heads allow them to sense nearby heat sources and minute vibrations on the ice for miles around. They don't posses noses, but their three eyes are incredibly sharp and more than make up for that loss. Normally they hunt in matriarchiacally lead packs of up to twelve individuals, where each individual takes a specific role in the dividing and hunting down of other animals. They are currently the forerunners on the road to evolve into sentient creatures.

I'll see what else I can come up with, with the help of this great tool!

Sure! I searched Google Image using keywords related to snow ('snow', 'snowstorm', 'blizzard', 'snowflakes', etc.) and textures / photographs.. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the images I used specifically (and I didn't back it up on my PC)..

Anyway, I uploaded the image I used in the layer, right here: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff86/jarnomiedema/Snowstorm-1.jpg

If you use it in Photoshop, be sure to make it into a seperate layer with an 'Overlay', 'Screen' or 'Soft Light' quality to it, which will blot out the black background and pull the white snowflakes into the foreground.. Good luck!

Heh, interesting.

As an aside, I wonder if there will ever be an expansion for the CE (more parts and so on). There must be hundreds more that Hydro's drawn.

I wonder if there will ever be a CE4, you could use bones on drawings to rotate parts etc, and use vector drawing so you can scale the parts, etc. And you could also tell me to go to hell and do it myself, lol.

Well is easy to talk about it but hard to do it. The ability scale the image without loss would be nice. Real time rendered shadows would be nice to. Lots of things would be nice to add. But is not that easy. I have just a superficial idea how to make real time shadowing and no good idea how to implement vectors.

PS: to use Real time shadows would mean that we have to redo every part.

A creature editor in 3D excluding the animation wouldn't be VERY hard to do, it would just take time :\
But I'm currently working on making a program that creates Spore-like planets and that you can terraform just for fun :P
