Had my first play through.

The levels are super long and we had to do it on normal. There are a couple of bugs still. There's an invisible wall of death (thrid level I think) and then when you restart on that level you spawn in the ending safe room. Then the game crashed all together when the final level was loading. There's also some confusing parts where you're not quite sure what to do/go.

Other then that I like the maps.

A friend is trying to load Left 4 Dead and gets this error.

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

If you delete the game by deleting the local files and reinstall it, will the steam cloud keep your achievements?

What happens when he presses OK?

And, I'm pretty sure achievements are tied to your account (at least for steam cloud games). It should keep his achievements.

Nothing happens by pressing okay. If anyone has deleted L4D and reinstalled, did you keep your achievements?

Yes.

They are not saved locally or anyone could cheat.

I suppose it's funny that you posted after me, because you are also female.  How coincidental.

Do you uninstall by deleting the local game files or by the control panel (remove program)?

Deleting local files should be sufficient.

A complete uninstall an reinstall likely wasn't required. If you right click the game and select properties, under the Local Files tab is an option called "Verify integrity of game cache...". This will initiate a process where Steam will check the state of the files on your computer against the state on the server database. If any inconsistencies are found, they are fixed up, merely re-downloading only the damaged parts, as opposed to the whole entire game.

This information is probably rather late, but just in case for future reference.

Update: Problem solved.

Solution: Deleted the local game files through steam which produced another error about unable to download, servers busy.
Manually deleted the left 4 dead sound.ncf file located in the steamapps folder.

This allowed the game to redownload and everything worked fine.

They've added 4 vs 4 Competitive Matchmaking. I tried to play but you can only team up with friends.
