Hydro's SC4 City
« on: October 16, 2006, 03:40:44 am »
I was showing my city to Yokto the other night and though i would share them with you too. I may update with more as i fill in more areas.

Loading screen showing the whole city.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc002.jpg
The snow melts and creates a stream.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc003.jpg
It flows by a cabin and under the train tracks to make 3 waterfalls.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc004.jpg
The water flows into reservoir lake and through a hydroelectric dam. It even has a fishing cabin. :D

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc005.jpg
The power from the dam runs the lumber mill. You can see logs all around as well as train tracks to pick up the logs.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc006.jpg
The river goe down 2 more water falls to the farming town. You can see some hosue and feilds which are irrigated by the river.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc007.jpg
Here is the whole farming basin with the river flowing through it. You can see a grain depot near the top collecting all the food produced here. Also there are tractor shops, farming HQ and farmers market.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc008.jpg
The edge of the farming basin end at the twin water falls where it flows down to the sea.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc009.jpg
Here you can see where i plan to build my sky scraper city with residential and commercial. These will have canals from the river like Venice.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc010.jpg
The river finally ends at the mangrove delta where it reaches the shallow sea. In the sea you can see coral reefs.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc011.jpg
Here is the entire shallow bay. It is to shallow for ships but people do sail boat around and scuba dive. I plant to put lots of beaches and other beach front property here. At the mouth of the bay is the big suspension bridge leading out to the sea. You can even see a humpback whale.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc012.jpg
Over here is the point where i will put the light house and the bay where my sea port will be. Across the way you can see an oil rig.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc013.jpg
Here is the oil rig with a natural gas power plant near by. It is off the coast of these hug sea cliffs. Many sea birds nest here.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc014.jpg
Up up up we go up the cliffs with roads and power line leading back to civilization.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc015.jpg
Here is a oil field at the top of the cliffs with pumps.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc016.jpg
You can see the road leading into a tunnel while some tracks lead to the railyard.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc017.jpg
Here is the raiyard. It has everything from a round house to a track side water tower.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc018.jpg
Nearby are the mines. You can see the coal mine to the left while the gold mine is to the right. In betwen are soem wearhouses and a freight station to carry away all the coal and gold.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc019.jpg
To the left is the gold mine again and to the right is the stream we started from near the cabin.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc020.jpg
We jump over back to the lumber mill. You can see another tunnel leading through the mountain and a road leading down.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc021.jpg
This road goes to the rural garbage center. You can also see the rail bridge to the left near the grain depot.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc022.jpg
We pull put to see the entire mountain range, and what is this behind the mountains. Why it is a desert.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc023.jpg
Through the tunnel we enter the desert ful of cactus and weird rock formations.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc024.jpg
The road leads to a tourist point with cable cars going over a huge canyon. Also you can see a look out point at the edge of the canyon.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc025.jpg
We pull back one last time to see the city from behind the mountains. You can see the cliffs, oil rig, light house point and even the shallow bay.

This is all for now but i plan on updating when i fill in new areas such as the seaport, wharf, light house, skyscraper city, industrial complex, airport, ski area, hiking areas, stadiums, schools, etc.

Plz comment on what you think of this city.

Wow! very impressed. I was always put of Sim City cos I could never make a profit. But is SC4 easier? I've only ever played 2000. I'll be having surgery on my knees after the school year is over and be house-bound for a few weeks, so I need plenty of stuff to do. I look forward to seeing more of this brilliant city! (does it have a name?)

Here is another set of new pictures I did with updated areas

Here is the new map Load screen. It is now called “Californika” since its like a very compact and mixed up California.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc027.jpg
Here's a new warf. You can see a pier, fireboat, fisherman’s wharf and a little sea village.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc028.jpg
I finally got the light house on top of the tall sea cliff. Also below is an Oceanographic sea lab and a wave power plant. To the lower left is the sea port. And of course in the lower right the oil right and natural gas power plant again.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc029.jpg
Here is the sea port complete with navy ships.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc030.jpg
in the shallow bay is a beach community with rich houses. As you can see even Mayor Wright has put his home on the beach.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc031.jpg
By the sea port is the industrial area. There are some factories going up the sea cliffs.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc032.jpg
Across the bridge is a commercial area with a soccer stadium and radio station. You can even see some water channels and apartments.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc033.jpg
Across the channel are many high rise apartments. But they are not sky scrapers yet …

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc034.jpg
You can see more up the channel getting closer to the farm plant basin.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc035.jpg
Look the river has been replaced by the channels but it still emptys out in the delta marsh. Also there is a nice little church too.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc035.jpg
You can see where the channel splits and where it comes down. There is also a natural spring near by that waters the city.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc037.jpg
Here is a clay pit with a brick factory. These bricks were used to make the canals.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc038.jpg
Also in the farming area I got a coco bean farm. This means a chocolate factory will come soon if I can get a sugar cane field to grow.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc039.jpg
Above the farming basin is the pine forest as well as the observatory. It is high enough and far enough a way from civilization to have a good view of the stars. Perhaps they will discover a meteor or UFO.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc040.jpg
Lastly I have a full view of the cost in which I have edited. Next time I shall work on that city and get it to grow into high rises. Also I better work on health and education because my sims are dumb hill billy farmers, miners and fishermen.

Tell me what you think of this set as well as other from before :D Sorry for all the posts in a row but it won’t let me post all in one for some reason

Load screen for the next batch.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc042.jpg
Some rich mansion up on the hill.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc043.jpg
Some Sky scrapers have grown now :D

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc044.jpg
Here is a commercial area with radio station TV station, soccer  stadium, bank and even a statue by the bridge.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc045.jpg
Look like the clay pit is growing with a new factory :D

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc046.jpg
Over here some commercial has grown by the mash. You can see an ice rink and even a plce where a mega mall will be built.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc047.jpg
You can see a university up near the top and a new beach area full of rich homes.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc048.jpg
Here is the new air port. It is slowly growing in size.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc049.jpg
With the university comes smarter sims! This means high tech industry. You can see a bio tech lab, pharmasuical company, solar power plant and even a disease research center.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc050.jpg
Across the way by the sea port is the dirty industrial area. I is hidden behind redwood trees. And has many insdustrys like a car factory, water treatment plant and sewer pipe making plant.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc051.jpg
We zoom out to see the new mountain range formation. A lot of dirt has been moved.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc052.jpg
On top is an air force base. This goes well with the local navy. Perhaps an army base will be next?

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc053.jpg
Harnessing the power of the earth we have geothermal power plant in a crack in the mountain range. Turns out is is volcanic!!  :o You can also se a hot springs in the right corner.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc054.jpg
The cliffs have fallen in and now it is on an island. Now they must use a ferry to go across to the natural gas power plant.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc055.jpg
Due to the flooding the small sea town was in ruins so they rebuilt the wharf and added market there instead.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc056.jpg
With so many new rich Sims a  beach front country club was built.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc057.jpg
Whats a town without a circus. The Circus has come to town via the train tracks and has set up its tent on the outskirts of the city. Come see the lions, elephants and clowns!!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc058.jpg
A mill has been built by the  the family who owns the cabin. They produce all natural bread mountain bread.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc059.jpg
The hill has been bulldozed back for more farms! Need to feed those city folk.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h202/Hydromancerx/SimCity/sc060.jpg
And a topographical map of the city. Pretty cool huh?

i have SC4 delux, i've yet to get propley into the internet comunity for it. I'm currently working on my main city lingburg, (don't ask why it's called that), and the population at the moment is just over 21 thousand, i'm still working with the original building set by maxis, i got the game quite late and i have the lot editor but can't download the graphics software needed to install the more advanced one because it costs now.

But nice work on the city hydro, always love to see more.

i've signed up for the simtropolis site today not sure how long it's going to take to get the email back though, although i singned up about 4 hours ago. I,m thinking about making a simcity thread of my own and spending some time making a city myself.

Yes Sim City 4 is great! Its a little old but ther are alot of great custom content available for it online. However its a little late to buy it now. In short i am glad i have it but if i was in your situation i would just wait for spore. If you cannot wait then get it :D

I personally loved sim city 2000. But this is basically all the things i loved from sim city 2000 without the dumb stuff in 3000 plus more. Rush hour is fun too since you can drive around like sim copter or streets of sim city.

copies of vanilla SC4 are fairly abundant, but is it worth getting without Rush Hour?

Probably best to get it with the expansion pack, as it adds a bit to it.
See if you can locate the Deluxe version of SC4, that's both of them in one package. Actually, that's the only package for SC4 I've ever seen to be honest.

Can't say I've ever played without Rush Hour either. U-Drive It missions are hokey, but kind of fun to do to boost your mayor rating, sometimes unlock special buildings or earn a bit of cash. There's also the traffic info tools you get, so you can see which routes people are taking; then use some gumption to adjust it a little to prepare for and avoid traffic congestion.
I think you get new buildings and stuff too.

I'd recommend it.

You basically will need Rush Hour. It introduced a lot of fixes that SC4 needed. It also adds road types and such. Playing without Rush Hour is nowhere near as enjoyable.
