BearshareV6? --- Please shoot me.
« on: September 20, 2006, 10:59:37 pm »
I've been using Bearshare for years (for entirely legal purposes), and now they went and made their program useless to me.

Can anyone please recommend a good P2P program? I've tried a lot of them in the past, but it's been a while so I'm not sure which one I should jump to next.. I'd rather not have to download a bunch of spyware figuring it out. What do you use?

Isnt Bearshare spyware? Or does it just suck.... Its one of the two.

I dont really reccomend P2P. Most of the programs come with Spyware.

I use Azureus and search with TorrentSpy.

Btw. What's wrong with Bearshare? I just remove the crap that comes with the installation when I've installed it.

Well the latest version is formatted so you can only search for music and videos, and for some reason I can't get any older versions to work. I tried taking all the bearshare entries out of my registry but still it shuts down and gives me an application error.

P2P is on it's way out it seems, bittorrents are much faster anyway, if you can actually find what you're looking for.

I use demonoid. If I can't find it there I search the others but demonoid seems to have mostly everything I need.

Azureus is the best client I've found and, depending on what you're downloading, I suggest thepiratebay.org I know the site is written in german but most of the torrent descriptions aren't and you'll still be able to find your way around even with the german titles.

oh man, I tried all those sites, and I still can't find an INDIVIDUAL song. I just wanna download ONE SONG. Where can I go to do this quickly. Oh Bearshare, I miss you. That WAS the fastest best way for me to download 1 song. What P2P should I use? I don't think torrents will cut it for individual songs.

well, after looking around for an hour, I finally found a P2P I like. Frostwire. It's based on Limewire, so therefore not polluted quite yet.
Works for me. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

ThePirateBay tracks where you're from and sets the site language to the spoken language in your country (Not the descriptions though)

I see that I shouldn't update BearShare then. :) I haven't updated it for 6 months now because I'm too lazy to remove the spyware that comes with it, so I guess that I'm lucky. :)
