Considering i rarely visit the forums, spend a lot of time working and with my girlfriend/friends, i like to think i have a good social life. It's all about balancing your time... if you REALLY can't sit down and do some work/go out with friends because you're addicted to visiting forums, then you may have a point. But all i think you need is to learn how to manage your time - don't come on until you've got your work done. Don't come on until you've spent time with your friends. Don't come on unless you have some serious idle time. No need to stop participating in a "hobby" simply because of poor time-keeping.
And how is talking with people on the computer any different to talking with your friends about video games? If your friends don't like video games and that kind of stuff, then you don't have to wonder why you feel the need to visit gaming forums all the time!
Plus i've learned over the years not to take threads like these seriously. Maybe this is a serious one... but inevitably people WILL come back and visit again, just out of curiosity.
