It's my first ever 1440x900 drawing.
I feel quite proud.

More stuff. If Great Distance reads this, how should I draw shadows on faces without it looking like bollocks?

I would actually try to remove colors and do a pure black and white one (No shades of gray)
Just to test it out.

Well, you could try drawing with the same brush as the black outlines and hair, just with grey instead of black. Pick out the areas that are vaguely the same shade of grey and then... draw those with the same shade of gray! Try simplifying things a bit at first. Oh, and don't leave the face completely white unless you're going to use a very light grey for the shadows. You can try adding more shades of grey later on, and blending the different shades too, when you get more confident. Or whatever, when you feel like you should. But try making it simple first. Just to see how that works out.
Remember if you try more complicated shading, you'll probably end up having to shade the whole face to match the image as closely as possible. Otherwise it'll just look somewhat off. But with just two or three shades of gray, you should be able to keep it simple, so you won't have to work on the drawing all day long. Just don't try blending the shades because that'll add more shades, and like I said, you might have to try to replicate the image as accurately as possible just to make it look good. Well, I'm not saying blending is something you should never do when you're trying to keep things simple, but it'll probably help at first.
Oh, and it might be good if you don't try shading just some tiny specified areas on the face. If you see that same shade, or even vaguely the same shade somewhere else, you should probably put it there, too. (And as you may be able to figure out, the more different shades you use in those areas, the more different shades you'll have to use everywhere else. So the shading will have to keep getting just more and more complicated.)
