Dr.Wright Gets a Make Over! (And Gamespot doesn't seem to notice)
« on: September 01, 2006, 07:00:01 pm »
For those of you that don't know of Will Wright's Intrestingly lead Life as a Nintendo Character (Especially his foray into the Zelda Series): http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=887.msg18132#msg18132
Now that you're caught up, Apparently A sim city game is being made for Japan on the DS system. It's based on simcity 3000 (but with some other interesting stuff added in), and So far it is just for Japan. I'm pretty sure it's not the first SimCity game made for Japan. (I don't think Simcity 64 ever came out in America)

For more info you can read here: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/DS/Sim+City+DS/news.asp?c=1526

In nintendo's Sim City games Dr.Wright was put in to give helpful hints through the city building process.

Not a stunning likeness of Will Wright I admit...
However in SimCity DS: http://www.cubed3.com/media/2006/August/jesusraz/simds.jpg
Look Familliar?

How about now?
Cool huh? (But like I said, For now it's only being made for Japan)

Now what bewildered me most about this whole thing had to have been Gamespots news about it:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6156988.html

Not that other sites had mentioned that it was an avitar based on Will Wright, but Gamespot goes go so far to describe the Avitar without linking to the Scan in any way that would suggest they were being suggestive of them realizing it was Will Wright.

Actually I have yet to see the words Maxis or Will Wright mentioned on any of the News sites of Seen. Sims and Sim City 3000 but nothing of their masterminds. (Although Ea is mentioned a lot. I guess other parts of Ea are making it so Maxis probably isn't directly working on this Project. Still, I think They should at least get a mention or something...)

Note: Once you learned the cheat to make the Ticker Say anything you wanted it to, It added a whole 'nother dimention to the game.

What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

I'm sorry, but: http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=887.0

I know you're talking about new stuff, but that seems to be the appropriate topic. :)

Nah. this warrants a new topic... I like the new look Dr Wright better. Definitely a better likeness.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

He almost looks evil.

 :D

So, think this game is coming to the US? I certainly hope so!

QFT. I still dig out SimCity every now and then to play it, and imagine playing it on the go! This game would rock. Hope they have the sense to translate it. Even if they don't, I may make my first E-Bay purchase. Yet another reason I can't wait until September 5 (my birthday + DS Lite + driver's license)

I'm finally getting my driver's license tomorrow. The DMV closes too early, and I have soccer practice for almost 3 hours. So hopefully I'll pass on my first go.

And Dr. Wright finally resembles the real Wright.
