The Leipzig Media Thread
« Reply #2 on: August 23, 2006, 06:13:58 am »
Posting this thread so we have one place to check for new media coming out of GC Leipzig - so post here if you find anything.

This article claims that there are two new screenshots here - but fot the life of me I cant figure out which are new..

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=144928

CURRENT CONFIRMATIONS:
- Venom Spray for creatures
- Hands selection affects social skills
- Feathers and fur textures
-Decorative body-parts like flowers, leaves, fins, and spikes.
- Rings around planets
- Armor-like skin
- Hand-held weapons (though this was known) - but we now know there are clubs

MEDIA SO FAR:

10 new screens (link posted by Cyrus)

Whatever time it is, it's in Germany, right? If it is, you need to adjust the time five or six hours back for those on the east coast of America based on time difference. (I keep forgetting which.)
And with this post, I've opened yet another can of worms.

Yes his keynote speech is in today during the opening, which starts at 8:00pm in Leipzig (That's 7.00pm for all us Brits and depending where you live in America sometime before midday)  Then tomorrow, he starts showing his hands on spore and will be there to probably give demos and talks perhaps.

Eurogamer seems to be the best place to get live updated information.  You don't even need to press refresh as it does it automatically :)

The REAL question is - is there any indication whatsoever that there is leaked video coming out of this event? So far I've seen none from any of the other presentations. I know that cameras are not allowed - I was just hoping it wouldnt be stringently enforced.

Final Fantasy® VII (1999)
One-Winged Angel
Composer: Nobuo Uematsu (Japan

Yay! Fake Latin! Or is it real Latin? Or is the song with Latin "Liberi Fatali" from FFVIII and this was in a different language?

It doesn't matter. Sephy's the baddest bishonen ever.

The date seems wrong though. FFVII was released late '96/early '97-ish, '99 had no Final Fantasy released. Maybe IX, but that would have been late in the year. I guess they're talking about the time that version of the song was composed.

Sorry for this completely random post.

As long as it isn't "Sutuki da ne," "Eyes on Me," or "Melodies of Life." They make me gag.

Again, apologies for off topic.
And with this post, I've opened yet another can of worms.

Eurogamer has a good article here, which gives promising suggestions that we will have lots of info on Spore, such as new trailers and such.

Quote
The main difference between the build-ups of the two big shows is that while E3 has generally been about first-looks and product announcements - particularly during the weeks preceding it - Leipzig is about consolidation, giving publishers the chance to show tightened demo versions and new trailers. In general terms, the show can't compare to E3 for scale, but it does provide a good barometer for public interest, and with the number of key developers present - Will Wright, Peter Molyneux, Gabe Newell, Jane Jensen and others - increasing year on year, there will still be plenty to talk about.

And also, various sites and EA themselves are covering everything that is happening.  And the fact that the Spore site is updating suggests to me that we will be getting something good, such as a video  ;D
