I preordered the CD, as well as his entire back libary, besides the ones I have (Poodle Hat and Bad Hair Day). It is pretty expensive since I have to import but it is defiantly worth it.

The White and Nerdy video was hysterical. I have to say... I pretty much believe the song might actually be better than All About The Pentiums. Its definetly on the same quality level.

And it bears the truth. For instance... my fave MC ... is in fact... MC Escher.

Lynwood might be one of Al's best albums yet.

Of course, Al can only improve to even think, nay imagine, that he could be, dare I say, bad, is unthinkable. The universe would simply implode.

*SPOILER*

The part where he bought the Star Wars Holiday Special made me laugh so hard I nearly lost control of my bodily functions.
I was thinking, wtf is going to be in that bag?  Perfect.

  Premiere cancelled

I'm very sorry to say that the AOL "First View" Premiere of the "White & Nerdy" video has been cancelled.

Apparently, the video has already leaked online, and AOL doesn't feel comfortable doing a "World Premiere" promotion for a video that a number of people have seen already. (I can understand songs leaking, but a video? How'd THAT happen?)

Anyway, it's really a bummer... it would have been great promotion for the album... but hey, life goes on.

So...

I'll be uploading the video to this page shortly. Tell your friends!

Apperantly, it got on youtube twenty hours before AOL.  Old news, but funny.

After Tuesday I'm turning this thread into the Official Weird Al Yankovic Thread, because technically that's what it already is.   ;)

Done.

THE ALBUM IS IN STORES!

I don't know if you've heard anything about this or not, but... well, I've got a new album, and it's out as of today.

I'm in the middle of my cross-country promotional blitz - getting a little tired of talking about myself, but still having a great time. The buzz on the new album is huge - the record label seems very excited.

Say, if I could ask a favor... if you are at all inclined to pick up a copy (or 12) of "Straight Outta Lynwood," could you please try to do it this week if at all possible? People in the industry really pay a lot of attention to first week sales figures and chart position - it means a lot to them. (Okay, okay, it means a lot to me too.)

And to all the spoiler-free people who have somehow been able to resist the temptation to download and listen to the album early... I congratulate you and salute your will-power. Now that you've come this far, make sure you do it right - after all, you can only listen to a new album for the first time once. When you get home from the record store, unplug the phone. Dim the lights. Anoint yourself in the finest of oils, set out a plate of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and put the CD in your stereo. Make sure that the volume is turned up to just below the pain threshold, and that you're sitting in the sweet spot on your couch. Then press play, sit back and bask in the glory and majesty that is "Straight Outta Lynwood." Listen over and over again until the songs are permanently wedged in your brain. Then and only then, you may flip the disc over to the DVD side and play all of the music videos, followed by the making-of-the-album featurette. Then you can check out the 5.1 mixes, or take full advantage of the karaoke function until the neighbors threaten to call the police.

Anyway, enjoy the new album. I really hope you like it.

Oh, by the way... just because you DEMANDED it... we will make "White & Nerdy" hoodies (as seen in the video) available to the public. They should be ready in about a week or so... I'll keep you posted.

See ya at the in-store!

I think I can name ten things in "White and Nerdy" that I actually am/do/hope to be.

I must be white and nerdy.

Are you kidding?  I noticed that Weird Al isn't really a wiz at minesweeper.
I have been told
not by one but two of my lovers
that I've got a heart of gold
but I'm unable to share it with others
They call me a poet who'll never have a poem
a tiger with no taste for bone
I'm the wonderful wonderful wizard who's waltzing alone

First of Straight Outta Lyndwood, is great. I was a little afriad that it might be as good as some of his other albums, but it is great.

Second, I ordered all of his CD's (except his collection CD's and the UHF soundtrack, since I have the movie) and even though it costed quite a bit to import them, they are defiantly worth it.
