But a computer can not see 2 or 3 moves into the future.... It just looks for the best move for that pertucular turn. If you are able to trick the computer its actualy quite easy
The beatings will continue until morale improves

The good ones can. Those are next to impossible to beat.

Chessmaster can see all the possible moves, that's why I like playing him on a slower computer, so he doesn't get as much time to figure them all out. I used to beat him ~90% of the time on my old 133mhz rig, and I beat him once on this 2.8ghz rig.

I guess I could affect it if you programmed it to only play based on how many possibly moves it could calculate in a certain amount of time. A faster computer will be able to work out more moves and therefore be able to pick a better strategy.

Still on my point the novice setting whipped me so makes me wonder how the heck does one beat the champion level.

That was cool.

If only there was a way to set up a computer vs. computer game. (or would it have the same outcome every time?)

Really hard chess programs simulate an entire game each turn.  They see what you could do to win the game based on your last move and counter it.

Then why do you post in here? I think chess is awesome, but my friend plays by weird Pagan rules. (No offense to pagans, i just use that for weird)

Yeah, Vivec's right. It's really getting to be annoying. In the words of Krakow Sam:

"Does anyone know the answer to this question?"

Pando:"No! I dont!" ;)
