Game(Cube) Boy
« on: August 08, 2006, 03:49:18 pm »
Just in from 1up, theres an article that mentions a future handheld that plays GAMECUBE discs!!  Playing Resident Evil 4 would be so cool!  Here is the address http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152727
Is it the thing Steve showed us awhile ago, the handheld gamecube?  Or is it something diffrent?  what is your take on this intresting news.  Here is the quote "may be used in a handheld that may play GameCube games could be the paragraph that outed the source's origin. Loose lips sink ships."

I do not trust 1up.

The whole thing sounds like bull to me.

And for the record Dragon, that thing is not real.

Not to mention 1up's source in this article is IGN...

You can't spell ignorance without IGN. Is there anyone in the world who believes the things they say?

EDIT: And besides, this would be the exact opposite of the Gameboy/Gamecube player. Nintendo couldn't make both without matter/antimatter annihilation taking place.

Well clearly i mean the fact the the disk isn't even in he system and it's still playing is a dead giveaway.

The picture itself is a very old Photoshop job.
The point is they've developed a miniture Gamecube chip that could theortically be used to make a new handheld.

A portable Gamecube would be great, but I'd hate to see the DS replaced so early.

Nintendo has a lot of patents that they don't use, remember.

The Wii doesn't function as a vacuum cleaner, after all.

Nintendo doesn't use all their patents, like this one:

http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?DB=EPODOC&IDX=JP2004016716&F=0

wtf?

Apparently, they have a patent on a vacuum cleaner system, although I can't seem to track that one down. So even if they're patenting the technology, it doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to make it.

Read up on Nintendo's past.

Some of those patents could be pretty old.

It seems that the handheld is only suitable for one player only. I'd rather play multiplayer Super Smash with some of my buds instead of playing against some CPUs.

It depends on the game. Mario Kart can only be 4 people through wifi, but 8 through DS download play.

You must play Mario Kart wearing a pink tutu while riding a train for 6 hours. Some people say wearing a blue tutu will unlock blue kirby but I think thats crap.

I hate how video game companys copyright everything that they happen to think of. In that way they are killing each other's ability to make games that could make use of the technologys because some obscure company owns the rights to it.

What is even more stupid and pointless is that you're deciding to reply to my post.

I fail to see where my post was stupid. It couldn't have been too stupid, as you just took the time to reply to it.
