Steve..Forum Games?
« on: June 03, 2005, 09:51:28 am »
I was wondering if we are allowed to create forum games.

If we are, you might want to create a new section for just forum games.

Eagerly waiting your reply!  :)

Forum games? What were you thinking exactly? I'm not sure I have seen these before (except for things like "continue the story" or "20 questions" or other similar games). Let me know more...

The game I was thinking of would be me asking geography questions (because that what I'm good at) and members would answer by PMing me.
After one day I would then post the answer to last question along with a new one.
Behind the scenes I would keep track of how many points each mmeber has (one point for every qustion right) and on every new post put a top ten.

One could also play a variety of other games. Simtropolis.com has a long list of forum games if your interested. Link below:

Interesting... I haven't seen this before. Well, I can start it off and if it doesn't catch on I can fold the forum back into "everything else". Who is going to "run" these games? Oviraptor? Or does just anybody run them?

From what I've seen the person that starts the thread is th one that takes care of it. But a mderator can close a thread if he/she thinks it's out of line.

Some games can run themselves, like some of the ones on Simtrolpolis.

Also you canset up basic forum gaming rules, and the ones who start there games can create more specific rules.

Edit: and anyone can start their own, don't know if you got that from what I typed.

Forum games are fun. I started a game of tag on a really big forum way back when, and it was fun, but this forum isn't big enough, and it's designed the wrong way.

To play tag, you need a forum that doesn't list the posts of people, or new posts, like GameFAQs and a lot of older forums. Then somebody makes a topic in a random place that's just the tag topic, then everybody else tries to catch them. Whoever catches them becomes 'it' next, and so on. It would work really well on GameFAQs because there's a forum for every game... you'd probably need clues or something.

I don't want to annoy you, but are going to add a new section for forum games?

I'm kind of eager to start my game and I'm not sure if you want me to wait for a new sction or if you want me to start it in "Everything Else."
