Well actually non of those pics are from my game, I play with a maximum of 102 soldier on the field, that gives me a smooth enough game even when everyone is clashing in one huge pile of swords and death, but I always forget to take screenies :)

Version 0.890 is released. As usual with Mount and Blade releases, this initial update is full of bugs, and the creator doesnt include a changelog. Having played for a (few) hours, here is what changes I could find:

-Rag doll physics
-New Weapons,New horse skins, new armors, etc.
-New kingdoms, divided out of the old Vaegir/Swadian territories
-Siege now feels like a siege
-Siege Engines exist, and work
-Other parties than your own (many)
-Owning Fiefdoms in addition to Castles
-Managing Fiefdoms
-Village raids for food and supplies
-Kings and other Lord NPCs now do more, like lead attacks on cities/castles/villages
-Horses are a lot faster
-Snappy new Compass added

And I havent explored everything yet :D

What? No full control over children? You do realize that some of us have particular plans for those children.

So from 1 to 10 how good is this game?
Yes. Power shifts more quickly than some people think.

How the hell do you even get towns? I had one once, before I signed up for a faction, I got a vassel order.

So how do I get towns after I joined?

Its the bugs.  ;D

This was only released a few weeks ago, so this version is still unstable. Hence the reason the frontpage hasnt been updated to reflect the new version.

So you cant get fiefs if you joined up with a faction. Its a bug. You can only get it if a lords messenger approaches you first, while you are unaffiliated, asking you to join their side. The fief is basically a bribe.

Remember playing this when it was first posted and the only real qualm I had with it was the AI being pretty boneheaded.
Going to have to give this new version a shot.

I think it's better now- they try to keep their distance from horses, and fight with spears properly.
