You actually believe that killzone trailer is realtime gameplay footage?  Wow.. That was disproved a long time ago.  I certainly believe that it is what they are stiving for, but I know that they had an animation facility working overtime producing that trailer before E3 2005.  Hell, the ps3 hardware wasn't even finished when they produced that clip.

I have no comment on MGS4.  I have seen some of the realtime demos, and they look fantastic.  But again, who knows what they were running it on.  I don't believe anything I see from Sony at the moment.  I'll reserve judgement until I see the actual product with my own eyes.

Bring on the Wii.

You're not seeing it from Sony.  It's from Konami.  They tell the truth about everything except the main character of thier games.
I'm toothy22 on Steam. Someone needs to invite me into the GS clan!

I don't think there was ever any real doubt that MGS4 was running in real time.  The game looked good, but in my opinion, it's no where near the level of Gears of War, or Mass Effect.  And as someone else said, after MGS2, I really don't care much about the story.  MGS3 was brilliant, one of my favourite games last gen, but I really don't care to see them going back to the MGS2 style.  Has Big Bosses foot been transplanted on to anyone yet?  Or are they going to bring him back as a zombie?   ::)

The problem is, we're all hardcore gamers. We know our ****. But the average public, mommies buying games for their kids, just don't know how bad its all gotten. We need to stop complaining and really DO something about crap like 600$ consoles and false advertising. And by "we" I mean all of you, cause I'm one of those lazy gamers. Go forth my minions! Good luck!

good graphics dont make a game, but all the mgs games have had good graphics and great gameplay so no need to nag about
that. i will deffinatly be buying the ps3 this year, theres great games coming! what about that one
game showed at e3 this year i think it was called 7 days. i'm not sure if it was realtime but if it was holy ****!
also what about I8(fall of man?) that game looks great!

as for killzone 2, that wasnt realtime, what person would want to play that game if the camera really moved like that.

The Metal Gear Solid games barley had any gameplay at all, let alone good gameplay.  The second game especially barley had an hours worth of actual playing, the other few hours were cut-scenes.  Also, you'll be lucky if the game is out this time next year.

Yup.

The only thing you can say about the game if the trailer was in real time would be the quality of the visuals.

Everything else is probably only things you will see in the trailer.

Well, let’s say that was real time.

I'm wondering if they are going to make the whole game the detailed?

Seams like a lot of work  :-\

I'm reasonably certain the MGS 4 stuff is legit. Konami and Kojima don't have a history of being total jerk-offs, so I'm going to buy it. Sony releasing 'in-game footage'? 'Nother story. But Kojima and Co. can milk a system for all its worth, so I don't have any issue with proclaiming it indicative of what the PS3 can really do.

Mass Effect is more impressive though. ;)

I agree, I think that both Mass Effect and Gears of War are more impressive, graphically, than MGS4.  If you watch the extended E3 2006 trailer of MGS4 you'll even see slowdown in some of the trailers; as in framerate drops, not cinematic slo-mo, so I'm 100% sure it is realtime footage, I just don't know what it is running on.  Also, I was BSing about the Killzone 2 trailer being realtime; that entire post was basically sarcasm...

Sorry I missed the sarcasm.  I went back and re-read your post and the lightbulb finally came on.  D'OH!
