See, the thing is, if I believe that, I might have to buy the PS3 and that's not a good thing.
Please, let's just say it was pre-rendered by no fewer than three Cray supercomputers.
Ignorance is bliss.

Impressive!

However I will still only buy a PlayStation 3 if they remake Final Fantasy VII.

No they have not confirmed it.

If it had been confirmed I would be in line for a PS3 right now.

Just knock the price down a few hundred and you've got masses of people lining up to buy it!

Though in all honesty the PS3 isn't meant to be an expensive gaming machine so much as a cheap blu-ray player.

Nope, still will never buy one. Good graphics do not a good game make. And I still don't buy that as real ingame footage. Who knows what kind of machine they're running that on, and how much they'll have to scale it back for the actual console. If I wanted to spend $600 on something because the graphics are nice, I'd buy a better video card and more RAM for my computer and play Crysis when it comes out.

WE realize that. But I'll be damned if the public knows any better.

I will do whatever I have to to play a remake of FFVII.

Even if it means buying a PS3 and only using it for FFVII.

I think 'the public' might have issues with a $600 price tag, but that's just a guess. Also, didn't Konami say that it was running in realtime back during E3? I thought that was generally understood.

No way, this is news.  It is not as if Kojima and Konami have a history of releasing trailers of MGS using the game's story segments, all of which use the game's engine.  All of the trailers for MGS4 are completely pre-rendered, unlike Killzone 2 - which is realtime GAMEPLAY, proving that the PS3 is twice as powerful as the 360. Considering that the best the 360 can muster is Gears of War, I think that much is obvious.

On the other hand, I was a big fan of the original MGS (what was that, eight or nine years ago?).  I played through MGS2, although halfway through I was really just playing to see if the story's loose ends would connect; instead I waded through a tangled mess.  I waited forever for MGS3 to come to Xbox since Substance did, to no avail.  After Subsistence released on PS2 I decided to get it, hoping that the new camera would improve the gameplay to match Splinter Cell's ... but the control scheme hasn't changed since MGS on the original PS, so I abandoned the game after a few hours.

So yeah, MGS4's pre-rendered realtime cutscenes will look great; and they will be unnecessarily long-winded and convoluted.  Yay.  Another great example of PS3's realtime prowess would be FFXIII (that's the right number, I think... talk about milking a franchise).

Would anyone else prefer to watch movies instead?
