Vehicle Editor Version 1
« on: July 17, 2006, 06:53:22 pm »
Yes, it has been a while, but it is finally here.
A full list of features is on the web site.

The help file is in the game.

The reason it is at .9 is because there aren't enough parts. I have released it early so I can get some feedback into what kinds of parts are missing.

I know some people can't download from freewebs, so if someone else would like to host it...
Also, you may notice the GamingSteve logo and my name. That is because of the one no-credit incident we had a while back.. :-\

Anyways, get it here.

It's under the link that says "get it here!".

Please, feedback is important and give it a try. Remember, don't panic.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I'd liketo thank all the people  who drew vehicles for inspiration. :)

LOL I think you beat Huggs and I. After working more on the creature editor we were going to make a vechicle editor and possibly a plant editor too.

Very cool dude, I just have to get into it a little more.

How the frack do you change part colors? When I move the sliders only my base blob changes. Grrrr....

Edit: Ok I figured it out but its fuxxord, why does it change the original blob color as well? Ah w/e. Here's a Necromonicon Pod Ship.

And a Sirron Ship.

You can get rid of the little dots by pressing delete. I'll see if I can tweak the code to change the blob only when you press enter.

And yes, some of the parts do look cartoony, but a) its the style Spore is aiming for. b) I need balance between industrial and organic. But I'll keep that in mind ad try to give a harder edge to the parts.

EDIT: And Necro, (and everyone else) you can left click the parts when you have them to open a submenu that can rotate, mirror, move, or scale with the roll of the mouse wheel.

I've figured everything out though, but I had to do it on my own, the "Help" section is really confusing. If anyone wants a real tutorial in how to work the editor just ask me.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind.

Basics: the i button keeps stops all rotating, scaling, and depth actions.
the p button places points on the blob editor. Press enter to finish the blob
          the o button places parts
left clicking a part opens an option sub-menu
          right clicking deletes a part
scrolling with the mouse wheel affects scale, rotation, and depth
sliding the color parts on the primitives section changes color
delete clears all the blue points

To flex the editor's capabilitie, I've made a mech. I guess this is a mech that the Borsch from the Spore website would make.

no need for that, there is a professional plant maker already, i dont have a link but there is one in these forums somewhere.
Its rather simple, yet pretty impressive so give it a try
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

Hmm... I seem to be getting no responses... Should I keep working on it?

--------------------

Anyways, v. 1 has been uploaded.

Features:

10-20 more parts. I can't remember.

Blob only changes color when enter is pressed.

Some other stuff I think.

Here are some new parts.

And a link to where you can get it.

Remember, feedback is not only appreciated, but necessary!
I'm also still looking for someone willing to host!

Ummm. I have a suggestion. Is there a way to add a black outline around the primitives? because otherwise they can loo out of keeping with the other parts
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Ah yes, the black outline. Trust me, I have tried two different ways to do this, but they don't seem to work. I'll try again and tell you the results.

EDIT: Lol, I got it working first try. Its been uploaded.

Back in black, with a gray dry brush and a red stiple effect.
