No I ment after you download the game it must immediatly launch or else it uninstalls after that you can use it when ever you want...
Most people will be buying the game in CD/DVD format, this is assuming a downloadable version will be available at all. Also, how would that prevent piracy? A person could get it to work, then just crack it and upload it. All it would do is inconvenience a paying user and make them turn towards piracy for a sensible solution to a silly prevention mechanism. Games like this arent exactly small. People dont want to download gigs worth of a game, only to have them delete themselves from their computer if the initial install-launch doesnt go well. Then again, you seem to be confusing downloading with installing. Downloading doesnt equal installing.

Did he also take your car in to fix your broken wingmirror, say it'd be done by Friday and cost you 500 for the new parts?

When I bought Sims 2 the cd-key was taken by someone so I couldnt register my game on the internet. The way that was solved was that i contacted EA and explained my problem, and they just asked me to take a good quality picture of all the CD-s in the game and the cover, and when they got that picture they sent a new key to me. No problemo. I didnt have to buy a new game and they didnt make me either. They helped me.

They will probably use a steam-like service which I think it's secure enough :P
DarkDragon's Minecraft Survival Server (use this as the IP):

gamingsteve.dyndns.org

- The server uses a whitelist, if you're not on the whitelist (can't connect), PM me your minecraft name.

If they use something like that I wont buy it.

It'll cost me a lot of bandwidth and I don't even get a pretty box, manual or neatly pressed CD for it. To heck with that.

It's not unlike printed manuals aren't gone already... A damned PDF hidden on the disc does not equal a manual.

Who sais that the online portion of spore will be CD-key related? I suspect that you will be able to make an /account/ with username/password (which would also give your creatures the "Creators name" information, etc).
The glass is not half full or half empty. It is both.
