Spore Machinima?
« on: July 11, 2006, 10:55:37 pm »
Has anyone thought of making movies with Spore such as Red vs Blue and the like?

I think it would be pretty awesome if you could.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, I searched.

might be a bit tough... Most machinima is done with multiplayer games where you can get several people to act out roles.  With Spore you would only have control over a single creature.

I have thought about how easy it would be to make a comic akin to Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth, since you'd be able to take shots of any creature doing any action from any angle in the editor, superimpose them over a backdrop and add text...

I was thinking of doing a random Spore-based one in flash, given my drawing style is so simple. The problem is, that would require effort, and perhaps a tiny bit of energy.
*slouches heavily* I dun wanna! :/

I'm hoping that Spore will be able to LAN. It's unlikely though.

Wasn't there a mention that they were considering LAN.  I haven't heard anything new about it :-\

I'm hoping there will be a movie making module for Spore like there was for Sims 2.

A multiplayer option for spore involving individual creatures and fleets where you can battle your creations, go on joint missions, and film machinima would be an AWESOME idea, if not for Spore's first release then at least as an expansion pack.

Riiiiiight... Even though, as someone else pointed out, there are machinima's for the Sims 2, which is a single player game.

All you need to make a machinima is a game, a program like fraps (or an in-game feature like in the sims) and a creative mind.

The key to machimina is complete control over the "actors" which Spore doesn't seem to provide.

Of course, I'm sure there will be more nature show parodies than there will be time to watch.

Crikey, that's a big one!

James is new, but Chickenman, you've been around long enough that you should know that (to my huge disappointment) all mentions of multiplayer in any way are immediately shot down in horrid violent flames by the community and deftly avoided by the devs.
