Underhyped songs
« on: July 11, 2006, 03:09:36 pm »
There are a whole lot of really great songs out there that almost never hit the airwaves because of lack of hype over them. If you have Itunes or something like that, coast through the albums of some one hit wonders and listen to some of their other songs, ones you've never heard before. A lot are surprisngly in some cases better then the hits themselves.

Here's some I've found so far:

Hey Julie-Fountains of Wayne (of Stacy's Mom fame)
So Far Away-9 Days (Of Absolutly(story of a girl) fame)
I only have eyes for you-John Stevens (American Idol Fame)
Wating for you-LaToya London (American Idol Fame)
Chain of Fools-Fantasia Barrino (American Idol Fame)

If you're wondering why you see 3 american idol ones up there...All from season 3...mainly because the top 12 of season 3 don't seem to fit in with the rest of the series itself. All of them were really good, but very diffrent then the ones that were on other seasons. (And even Fantasia's faded into obscurity somewhat. And they're all really good.)

Try to make your own lists (It doesn't have to just be one hit wonders, just very underappreciated songs).

and they may get another hit. It took Lifehouse 5 years between "hanging by a moment" and "You and me".

What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

I'm just pissed they took Andrew W.K. and Custom off the airwaves here in Canada, man I loved their songs.

www.emusic.com has a lot of underhyped yet still really good bands, plus very good alternative.

Bands: Spoon, Postal Service, Echo and the Bunnymen.

Radar Love - Golden Earring
   Their one really good song.
Paschendale - Iron Maiden
A great song simply overlooked because it is just one of many.

Menya Zovut Shnur(used in a moderately famous Flash movie, but I can't imagine it on the radio) and Ja Svoboden are two great songs by Leningrad. It's Russian rap, so I have no idea what they're abot, but the beat and the style is kick-ass!
