I've been thinking lately. As this little board known as the Spore Forum is only a few hundred members strong (Over a thousand but less than two thousand is still a few hundred), it is well understandable that in a game that has seven million stars PER CREATION, it seems logical to assume we will NEVER see them all by ourselves, and probably won't together either. However, we can still come damn close. It is here why I present this to you:

When Spore comes out, we all collect information on the creatures we encounter, including a screenshot, their attitude, their Sporepedia stats, and their level of development when we find them. If their attitude or their level of development is found to be different by a second or other later observer, then we shall use the most common findings. If this is the creation of someone on this forum, however, they can update their creation with the latest stats.

It is by doing this that I hope that we can someday create a massive collection of every creature ever seen in Spore. This will never be complete, but we can still behold the majesty of the imagination. Who will pledge their assistance?

I'm in.

This should really all be put in some sort of Wiki.

They are trying to make a classification system for the fanfic, like a sporepedia.

Yeah, but that's only the fanfic.

We're talking every creature we ever meet.

I'm pretty sure someone should eventually make a Wiki, just for all the creatures that have been found and documented while playing Spore.

No, I'm not talking about SporeWiki.

SporeWiki will be for all creatures in Spore. It's only fanfic atm.

We're looking at hosting creature files, too.

Yeah, this consists of only the people who volunteer. Basically, every time we meet a creature, we take down certain info about them (Basically a screenshot, their Sporepedia stats, and how they act), and then when we're done playing, we upload the list onto here and create a HUGE list of every creature we've met. Heck, this could start pre-UFO for everyone, as you WILL meet creatures as you develop. Though their stats will have to be guess work.

I still suggest you upload to SporeWiki, because uploading them here would mean you'd still need to find external hosting for the files.

I still say that when Spore comes out, we make a new Wiki, just for everything documented in the game. Creatures, planets, buildings, plants, everything. And if need be, the alternate versions of the same planet, creature, stuff. Yeah.

That is the buety of a wiki.  No reason to make seperate ones for the same purpose.  SporeWiki does already host pages for creatures made in-game.  We fully anticipate doing the same for anyone who wants to upload their own creature when the game comes out (or any creature they encounter for that matter).

Do you think that the creatures will have the same names in every game, or will it change because each creature has a different language. This could lead to the posting of the same creature over and over again. But i'm still in...

We shall count our creatures, whatever the cost may be, we shall count on the beaches, we shall count on the landing grounds, we shall count in the fields and in the streets, we shall count in the hills; we shall never surrender.

Hopefully our creatures will have a unique ID that can be keyed in; so that in game, the creature can be uploaded into your universe as though the game had done it normally, but with an entry added to our Sporepedia. The game could then give that creature higher priority when placing it on a planet you haven't visited yet. Don't know if that will be the case in the final build of Spore, though.

It would be fantastic if there is an online version of the sporepedia, that has catalogued every creature ever created.

All I would be interested in, is how my species behaved as a computer-controlled group. It would be awesome to read someones personal spore page (generated by the game, like Sims2 did), only detailing their exploits crushing/growing with/being crushed by my guys :)

its a winston churchill quote with the word "count" replacing "fight"and "our creatures" replacing "for our island". Churchill was talking about defending against the blitz

Yes, I'm very familiar with Winston Churchill. That's why I said "Who're we fighting?" and not "Who're we counting?". I know all about Churchill's speaches. I'm British for petes sake!

we're not fighting ne1. I have ADHD and didn't take my medicine. The government wont let me take a higher dosage, so I routinely ask if I am high when i forget the pills. So the churchill reference was a result of a mental condition.

By the way, do you live anywhere near london or deal? Nice places

hey I'm in for sure. how about we make a planets registry like say a virtual astronomy society were as we being the volunteers put up the data of the planets we've found and its in habitants and so on. it'll be like a massive document on the various planets with in the massive spore universe much like we do no in real life.OK I've estimated that there will be about 1'500'000 planets this is working of what WW said in his E3 presentation. he said there will be about 1/2 a million stars (500'000) and most of the stars will have about 3-4 planets revolving around them or in there solar system. so i used the 500'000 stars multiplied by 3 (estimated number of planets fore most stars some may contain more some less some might not have any) and i ended up with 1'500'000. thats a massive planet registry and it probably be different for some people.
It is said that something as small as the flutter of a butterflies wings can ultimately cause a typhoon on the other side of the world. The Chaos Theory.
