What are your opinions on the changes in gameplay (the changes in the creature editor, mating, statusbars, Sporepedia being added, etc., not graphics) from last year.

I think they've all been positive.

The game seems much better than it did a year ago. I look forward to using the Sporepedia.

I love it how you can choose how you attack.

Observe the bottom right hand corner.

To be honest, I never knew enough about the game from the early videos and talks to really see a change. The difference between the old vids and the new vids, just appears to be that they're showing different scenarios in the game. I honestly cant see any major changes, and the minor ones are obviously harder to notice.    xP

Positive, mainly.

I don't like the way they added stat sliders to the editor. But other than that, yeah, it's obviously improved a lot.

I do agree and love how they've made most of the changes. All of them seem great to me really. However, I'd love it if Will had explained some of the features in the controls a bit more. I.E. What's the Lightning symbol on the picture above for?

Wow I never even noticed those two buttons there.  I was wondering about that because on the E3 2006 video for G4, the creature he made had spiked balls on his hands and for some reason he was attacking with his teeth.

I wonder if attacking is automated until you give it a new command...

I don't really like that part either. Will seems to like to add those kinds of things to his games. I guess he mostly added that because of the Sporepedia.

What do you guys mean by sliders? maybe if I could see what they did before and now, I'd know what you were talking about...  ???

We mean the little circles that light up when you add parts.

I admit, they're not fun to have but at least this way you're not linked directly to a set amount of points. In Spore, the points are earned by the actions, and each choice is just that; a choice.

But they can still have different amount of points. And I would rather just choose any part I want without having to see how many points it has.

I'll agree with you but there is the simple fact that some things are more effective than others. I admit, I would enjoy saying that you gain effectiveness by spending points as time goes by but a double-bladed beak (I.E. A Squid) is twice as effective a single-bladed one (I.E. A Budgie), and despite the potential enjoyment of the aesthetics of a single-bladed beak it will not be as effective as a double-bladed one. Still, you can always finish designing your creature and go for aesthetics and not points, and use the leftover points for brains. Yaaay! Brains!
