Talgra nods slowly. Though Talgra hadn't slept in quite some time, it didn't show. His great ancestors, the Loricatus Morsus, were known to go days without sleeping while tracking large prey.

Talgra slumps down slowly and rests against the rifle he carries, trying to meditate. It would allow some degree of rest while still staying awake and aware. Before entering the trance, Talgra begins to pray. It's not conventional prayer, but in fact takes the form of slow, low, bellowing notes that almost form a haunting and rather beautiful song. It almost is akin to cetacean songs on other worlds. It does not translate entirely well outside of water, but it is enjoyable none the less.

Please Talgra, this is neither the time nor the place. You realise that if there are any hostile aliens down there youve just unfailingly alerted them to our position?

At Talgra's song, the hologram (which had disappeared after being resolutely ignored) flicks back on, accompanied by sound.

"Isssz heer awl bee. Dis." Somewhere, a motor whirred.

"Oh great. Now it's gonna kill us or something. Thanks, Talgra." whispers Quasqado, clutching Blinx in the metal fortress of his fingers.

Talgra listens and shakes his head, halting his prayer for now.

"That's not a warning. That's an attempt at communication..."

Talgra stands and begins to attempt to communicate. With low moans and clicks, Talgra replies in his native tongue, waiting for the holograms response to his inquiry: Who are you? He hopes it can understand...

"Sorry to disturb your touching 'we come in peace' moment Talgra but there are procedures to be followed in situations like this."

Lizst begins to speak clearly and steadily, rattling off a series of apprently nonsensical phrases in Standard. These phrases had been designed by the agency to be very easy for most foreign translation technologies to get a handle on, so they could begin to decipher whatever it was they were faced with.

Talgra just leans on his rifle now and smiles. He knows eventually a creature with the Liszts thought capacity will realize that the language barrier between Standard and a Cetacean click-tongue language would be so different that, even if this machine had the ability to understand new languages, the two are so distant it would take far longer than the moments they had. The Loricatii only managed first contact based on sign language, after all.

The hologram responded: "Bee turoo unduh nex", followed by some clicking which even Talgra couldn't fathom.

Blinx stirs and waked up.

"Maybe I should wait a while."
No way dude, you're trolling me.
