Raing star things
« on: June 20, 2006, 11:19:40 am »
Just thought i'd float an idea;

Now, the star things go

(0-99)
(100-249)
(250-499)
(500-999)
(1000+)

And after 1000 they no longer change, whick sucks slightly; what I propose is a system, whereby the stars are gradually replaced by something else, eg:

:)(1000-1999)
:):)(2000-3999)
:):):)(4000-7999)
:):):):)(8000-15999)
:):):):):)(16000+)

(the smileys are just a placeholder, I dont expect them to be used in this for real)

I don't know if this is possible, or if steve has enough time, I'm just floating this idea on the chance that it is and he does, plus I thought it was a cool idea ;D

tl;dr. But with all those shiny symbols and numbers it's probably awsome.

If anything, the other thing should come first, and the stars after, since the stars rule.

...You have been remembering to feed the rooster, Right?
What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

Nice idea. I also vote that below 100 posts you should get nothing.

100 posts - 1 bronze star
250 posts - 2 bronze stars
500 posts - 3 bronze stars
750 posts - 4 bronze stars
1000 posts - 5 bronze stars
1250 posts - 1 silver star, 4 bronze
1500 posts - 2 silver stars, 3 bronze
1750 posts - 3 silver stars, 2 bronze
2000 posts - 4 silver stars, 1 bronze
2500 posts - 5 silver stars
3000 posts - 1 gold star, 4 silver
3500 posts - 2 gold stars, 3 silver
4000 posts - 3 gold stars, 2 silver
4500 posts - 4 gold stars, 1 silver
5000 posts, 5 gold stars

For my two cents, we have mario coins made of different metals. Here's an example, but imagine it not spinning:

100- 1 bronze mario coin
150- 2
225- 3
375- 4
500- 5
700- 4 bronze coins, one silver
850- 3, 2 (You can see the pattern from here)
1000- 2,3
Etc

I am all for the encouraging of massive post counts by making cool shineys that you earn when you get to insane numbers of posts.

I have tried other icons out other than stars, but they often don't look nearly as good as the stars themselves. The coins look cool, but 5 in a row looks a bit strange.

Also I can't really "mix" two types of icons ... so you can't have something like 2 coins and 3 stars as a single rating. So it has to be either all stars or all coins or whathaveyou.

So how would that work then? Say you get 1000 posts and get 5 coins, would you really want to go back to 1 star after 2000 posts and start building all over again? Let me know what you think.

Just an idea, could you use an image of fourstars and one coin for the higher level? I'd be happy to make the images for you if they could be implemented like that

you get  ;D :) :) :) :)
where  ;D is gold. And so on!

I heard the AI is good, but I tried it one time and it sucked. There was no consistency to what people did, it was almost impossible to know what they were going to do next. One person would act one way, another would act a different way... Gruh! The developers really need to work on their ideas of "AI" in order to make an acceptible game.

After weeks of playing GTA I woke up one morning to find it was foggy outside. My first thought was, "Someone needs to turn the draw distance up." :-\
