Probably should have read the replies. :3

Glad we all (mostly) agree.

Still haven't read the replies.

YOU BETTER MAKE ME

Edit: I wouldn't let my masterfully crafted message go to waste no matter what people have said here.

GD, there's a Snorlax hiding in the replies you didn't read.
Probably not a Goat, either.

Pat you need to stop obsessing over whether people are liking the right things.

This is now our second thread about how people don't enjoy things the same as you and how that's bad.

You completely misunderstand me then. I don't really care what you guys play or like. I just want to talk about it.

Problem is, whenever I try to make a straight-laced topic, you dorks respond to it once or not at all and it dies. But if I throw a few ridiculous, hyperbolic phrases into it, you guys will talk about it for a week. It's my way of  baiting you into responding, because otherwise you don't. And I know for a fact there are opinions about this stuff, I guess people just don't want to take the time to write them out.

PatMan33 is a character to convey my thoughts. Don't berate him, he doesn't care. You'll just make him double down that way because your lazy response begets a lazy response. Talk to him. Challenge him. If he says something stupid, don't let him get away with it. COME ON!!! How many years are we into this now? Ten? Almost eleven?

Talk with me on Steam some time while one of these topics is going. You'll see the behind the scenes machinations in real-time. ;)

Okay, now I have read the replies. I was just busy washing the dishes there for a second.

I think my points are still valid.

An admission that your speech is intentionally hyperbolic in order to provoke people is the last thing that would make me want to talk to you more. >_>
No way dude, you're trolling me.

Most definitely. You brought up very relevant points.

Tesla, I'm putting my response elsewhere since it is long and not really on-topic. ;D

You activated Introspective Pat. He does exist, just not usually in forum posts.

The thing that bothers me the most is how they seem to avoid making it an actual good game.
Why not just straight up have the combat from the games? I really doubt that's impossible.
Apparantly your pokemons skills randomly change when you level them up as well, so there is no reason to keep track of anything, just catch pokemon untill you get bored of it.

Imagine if this was exactly like pokemon, where you go out and when you find a pokemon you can fight it like you would in the games, catch it, and then train it and fight other people.
Same stats and moves and everything, but just with the real world as the stage. That would be really cool.
I mean, this VR thing is already doing really interesting stuff getting people outside and "meeting" eachother (read parking 30 feet away from eachother), and this idea could be done in a lot of different ways but with the game being this shallow I feel like people will lose interest in a few weeks and then that'll be that.
Obviously they made it this simple to not scare off casuals, but still, pokemon combat isn't that hard, why.

That quote is actualy very witty, Celdur. I suggest you use that in your signature.

I guess because they still want to keep making a profit off of the main series. If Pokemon Go were too similar, it could replace the main series entirely. People would have no reason to play the main games.

I would be okay with that direction, really. They should ditch the main games and focus on developing Pokemon Go, and make that the main series.

You overestimate casuals. Actual multiplayer Pokemon battles are a twisted realm unnavigable by the "hurr I played Silver when I was 8 so I know all about pokeymans" crew.

The reason Pokemon Go isn't an actual game is phone users don't want an actual game. Long-form RPGs that require a lot of investment belong on dedicated platforms owned by people who bought them because that's what they want.
Not a winner anymore.
