Bad position in Oblivion...
« on: June 13, 2006, 12:24:50 pm »
Uh... I'm doing the main quest, trying to get the amulet of kings and all... I went to the Mythic Dawn base, where you become a mythic dawn member and all that jazz. So, of course, I don't have any of my stuff (unless I want to steal it all back from that one guy), and I don't know what to do. I tried to steal the book, but I couldn't leave. I was stuck in there because of gates and things of the like. I keep on getting killed, too. I eventually gave up since I realized I was doing nothing good for me.. I'm guessing that someone has done it before... so they know what to do? o.O?

Hmm. The Char I did this mission with was a dark elf. I hid in some shadows with sneak (dont worry I didnt need a high sneak skill), then summoned an ancestor guardian. The guy with my stuff was drawn over and started attacking it and I was eventually able to kill him with the dagger you get. Once I got my stuff back I just fought my way through each room until I got out. (my paralysis staff was a great help here). I dont know if that solution could help you  :-\

Not really... I tried that... the fighting, anyway. They had all these guards kill me. Plus, how did you get through the metal bars? I sure couldn't...

You have to go the long way round. Before you attack them do a little exploring. You have to escape through the area marked living quarters I think.
Oh, and take it slowly. Kill the guy with your stuff first using the dagger or spells. Then take it one room at a time, guards wont come from the next room if you dont let them see you.

I was in the same situation as you, the way I got out of it was that I ran up the steps I came down and then run all the way round until you find a sudden drop, fall down, but try to do it by sliding down the cliff face, keep doing this while casting healing spells, the odd one may fall down, if so kill it, they're much easier to deal with on there own

The guy who had my stuff, I just punched him out with no skill in marshal arts (or whatever it's called in the game), got my armor and weapons and beat everyone up...

The easiest way to do it, is to not give the guy your stuff.  Keep it all, and just slaughter the lot of them.
Just try it a few times.  Even if you have trouble killing them, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to get away, once you know where the exit is.

there is also a knife on the podium next to the book, use that
