Its a beige alert!

Anyhoo. heres some more exciting culture for you:

Here we see two ViS playing the most popular ViS boardgame 'Lom'. The rules are of course incredibly simple, a sort of cross between checkers and tic-tac-toe, so lets call it check-tac-toe.

It must be some highly effective training procedure for the brain. I mean, why else would you play a game?

It is one of the ways they spend their alloted daily recreation time. This time is allotted to prevent performance being impacted through overwork. However, to keep their brains from 'attrophying' during these breaks the ViS exercise them with games such as this.

No, they cant get bored... it just stops them getting stupid while not working.

I havent thought of the rules... maybe someone else could make some up... remeber, like checkers and tic-tac-toe... but keep it simple, stupid!

Thats great except the person who goes first will always lose :P

Edit: actually this is better than I gave you credit for... it actually works... and takes some level of strategy :D (disregard the above statement)

Here we see a ViS refectory fermentor. Nutrients (and the liquefied remains of ViS which exeeded their 40 year life allowance or broke the law) enter the vat through the large pipe and are used by the algal cells (seen in the magnification bubble) to produce a cocktail of refined nutriets which sinks to the bottom of the vat. It is then skimmed off and portioned out into plastic, funnel shaped containers. The ViS dont use utensils to eat and, since they dont have muscular throats to aid in swallowing, simply tip the tasteless goo into their mouths.
Aliens staying at ViS colonies for whatever reason soon get very, very tired of algae paste for every meal... although it has been remarked that its a little like 'tasty-wheat'

There is a method to my madness. That method is in and of itself quite mad, but it is method nonetheless.

The ViS can actually break the law? I'd thought they'd be, if not obsessed, then at least very caring about it.

The only ViS who break the law are the medically insane and those who have been improperly conditioned (For example, if they were brought up outside a ViS colony as a result of an accident or something).

This is the ViS homeworld Lentus 4

The fourth planet from the sun, Lentus 4 should be cooler than it is but a large amount of water vapour and CO2 in the atmosphere causes a strong greenhouse effect. Even so, temperatures rarely rise above 20 C at the equator and stay at a uniform temperature of about 10C elsewhere on the planet.
The planet surface is one of some contrast.
The Oceans are teeming with varied and colourful life, the ocean ecosystem is supported by hot seepers deep under the ocean, which feed warmth and minerals into the water.
The land however is a different story, the almost permanent cloud cover and drizzle means that the only plants that can survive are hardy algae which cling closely to the damp rocks. Some more complex woody plants do cling on to life at the equator but this is the exception, not the rule. The lack of plants to shape the land means that the entire landmass of the planet is basically a barren, rocky plain. the only creatures which survive there must be very thrifty and resourceful to survive.
The bulk of creatures on land are small grazing animals, mainly mollsucs, crusteceans and insects. Slightly higher on the food chain are predatory molluscs and amphibians (the most 'complex' form of life to exist on land).
The natural ancestors of the ViS were omnivorous amphibians which somehow wound up living exclusively on land. The scarcity of resources and constant drizzle perhaps helps to explain the ViS rather bleak outlook on life.
Lentus 4 has one barren moon... since it was formed from the planet it is equally devoid of resources meaning it was neevr colonised by the ViS until their population grew too large for just the planet surface.
