Assassin's Creed - All versions
« on: May 31, 2006, 09:35:00 am »
Anyone else as excited about this game? Was featured in the newest GI. I really like the concept of making the crowd in the streets so responsive to your movements. I've always hated in games how you can do things that would get you arrested in most places (laborously climbing up walls, constantly running full-tilt into people and things, etc.), and yet no one will blink an eye.

The concept is good, too. You never really hear much about the original assassins, and the gameplay looks like a blast. It's made by some of the same people that created Sands of Time.

http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.com/ is the official site; not sure how much info is on it, since it won't load for me. Damned flash websites. There are other sites out there with more info, but I don't have the time at the moment to pull them up - gotta get to my next class. ;)

Official word from Ubisoft is that it was running on a PC emulating the PS 3.

Anyway, I am really excited about Assassin's Creed, it looks great.

Hopefully it'll come out for something other than the PS3 as well. I'd be surprised if it didn't, considering how 3rd parties are moving towards multiplatform releases these days. If it comes out for the 360, I'll get it, definitely. It looks awesome. Does it look like it's worth $700? No.

Definetly interested with all the buzz around it, and the trailer was just awesome. Where's the leaked footage ??? :D

I'd be suprised if it went beyond a timed exclusive, but maybe I'm just saying that because I'm not going to buy a PS3 anytime soon.

The biggest difference is that Prince of Persia is completely linear, and you aren't literally relying on social ettiquitte to complete your goal (as far as I know - I've only played Sands of Time. ;)). According to the article, they're trying to make entire cities open to play, with everything that sticks out more than five centimeters from its surroundings interactive. There will be many, many ways to approach an assassination, and combat will be much more realistic and focused on defense - you and your enemy will only be able to take a few hits before going down. The control system sounds closer to real combat than any other game I've played which relied on set moves for fighting, though, so I have hope that it won't be needlessly difficult.

It's actually the only current reason I'd have for even considering a PSŁ

Same here. Ubisoft needs to take it at least to the 360. Then I could play it. No one I know is getting a PS3, at least not till Sony puts its foot in its mouth for the last time, admits it's just a damn videogame system, and drops the price by a cool $200 or more. Till then, I shall play Assassin's Creed using my imagination alone -- which might offer more options.

If the final game comes close to what they're promising, it will be amazing. I'm pretty skeptical, though.

It does look impressive. However, I personally hope that you will be able to change your garb, as there just don't seem to be enough other trench-coated individuals to make me seem inconspicuous.
Yes, I play games. Really.

I do like that it's based on the Hashshashim. Those guys were insane but very impressive. I like that you're an assassin this time around that doesn't sit back and pick people off from afar. That's only fun for so long, and having to get up-close is far more exciting.

I posted this about Assassin's Creed on a different thread, so simple copy paste action:

The PS3 is going to have the best graphics out and I would have to agree with what TheChoas7 has been saying(mostly).  Assassin's Creed is unbelievable looking and is going to be the best game released yet when it comes out.  Don't worry they have in game photos and nothing has matched how it looks.  Gameplay is bound to be fun just on the sole fact that the character has 4000 animations for his actions as for the Prince of Persia games has had 400.  There can be around 60 NPCs on screen at once acting with all of them acting with a different script at once.  This is one of those console games that I will have to get the console just for the game alone.
