I was scanning through Gamespot when I noticed this:

"Big-name game listings weren't confined to the Wii, however. EBgames also has a listing up for a Nintendo DS version of Electronic Arts' highly anticipated Spore. That meshes nicely with EA job listings posted earlier this year looking for designers for a handheld version of Spore. Curiously enough, the DS version is currently set for a March 2007 release, while the PC edition has been pushed back yet again, this time to June 2007. "

All we can do is hope that it is June 8 2007 (my birthday )

I'm fine with that. I was hoping for novemeber so I could get it for MY birthday, but if theres stuff they want to iron out, or even add in, I have no objections.

True, more often than not it's tactical.

You wouldn't want to say 'we will definatly have it out by april' then have it come out in may. Better to say 'we aim to have it out by june' then have it come out early to hoerds of salivering fans.

I'm not surprised.

All that we really knew was: not this fiscal year => not before April '07
and
Spore will not be feature on another E3.

June '07 fits the description well enough.

Actually, at least it won't distract me whilst I'm at college.  Instead, I've got the summer holidays to enjoy playing Spore non-stop for several weeks

Oh, what a bunch of crud. It's a good 13 months or so away. On one very miniscule part, I am glad that it gives them that much more time to invest in it and really turn it into a killer game. On the very large majority part, it looks like we get to look for GDC'07 for the next installment of any info relating to the game.

What are we basing this on? Gamespot's Retail Radar?

As we found out with the Q1 2007 Release statement from Gamespot a few months ago, they have no idea what they're talking about. The Handheld job posting has been there for quite some time (Gamespot covered that in Feb. 06, here: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6145004.html).

I'm going to assume that EBGames is shooting in the dark. We all know that the release will be Q1 next fiscal year, the question is when exactly. This June 06 date seems like a guess. I'm not saying it won't be before, or after, just making sure you guys understand that unless it comes from EA or Maxis, it's just not true.
