I'm 19 and never had a job.

If you find one, ask if they need anyone else  :D

I live in the UK, so it may not be helpful, but when I was 17 I got a part-time job in my local supermarket

When I was 17 I went and got a job in a call centre for a phone company. Better than working supermarkets/fast food, if you can handle the boredom.

I remember a job I had a few years ago, where I worked in a smoking office :). There were only 2 of us working there, and the boss went out pretty much every day for a few hours, so we just smoked and played Solitaire. I only quit 'cos the money sucked.

When I was 16 I had two different jobs (this was 1988):

I made moon-boots (google it if you don't know) and made $8.75/hr. It was mind-numbingly dull but the money was good. I spent hours stuffing liners in to the shells.

I also worked in a warehouse pricing goods for the Dayton/Hudson corp. I think that paid about $6 (min wage was 3.45 or something like that). I also got a discount on purchases (10%) from Daytons, Hudsons, Target,etc... which was a nice perk.

If you don't mind manual labor, check with local warehouses or construction companies. Sometimes they'll have something that they'll pay a minor to do. I've had friends clean up for comntrsuction and roofing companies.

If it is easy or fun it won't pay well, but if money is the goal, you'll need to aim for something just shy of an episode of Dirty Jobs.

(this advice coming from a guy who now makes about $54k a year from skills learned while playing video games. :) )

I worked at a local video-rental store. Was able to watch all the new releases before they hit the street date, play the videogames for free. Nice job. I was good at it and it allowed you to meet lots of people. The pay was pretty sub-standard but at least I went home everyday with a smile on my face.

See my suggestion of working in a call centre. Try local job agencies and tell them you're looking for office work.

At an age of 14 ??? I don't see that happen where I live, except if you have some connections with the right people.

Yeah, if you have no morals. Call centres are bad.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.
