The Galaxy, Its Age, and Its Inhabitants: Timeline
« on: May 14, 2006, 05:37:49 pm »
Mmkay.  So I noticed that all the races in these Spore-Forums happen to exist all at once... That kinda baffles me.  So what I did is made a calendar based on the age of Galaxy, which is roughly 13.6 billion Earth-Years.  The Sun "rotates"(It travels in a Spiral, but still) around the center of the Galaxy roughly once every 220,000,000 years.  Meaning that one Galaxian Year is somewhere around 220,000,000 years also.  Thus, based on the fact that the galaxy is exactly 13,601,635,006(random past 13.6) Earth-years old(Coincidence that AD Earth-years line up with the Galaxy's age), it is said that the Galaxy is 61.825 613 6636 Gyrs(Galaxian Years) old, as of the beginning of 2006.  The beginning of humans was somewhere around 61.814 000 0000

The Gyrs work rather simply; each whole number is 220,000,000 Earth-years, and number past that is just like a normal decimal place, the spaces don't mean anything... They're simply for ease of the eyes.  So, if anyone and everyone would please post when the "birth" of their creature was(Let's say just coming to Sapience) and it'd be nice to use a uniform Calendar.

NOTE: Creatures will be bold

0                                                 The birth of the Milky Way Galaxy
41.100                                         The birth of the Sun
  41.145                                         The birth of Earth
61.798                                          Sapience of Caarnth.
61.812                                          Sapience of ViS
61.817                                          Sapience of Auyuelcliads
61.824                                          Sapience of Humans (~250,000 Earthyears ago)
61.825                                          Sapience of Ichthians
  61.825 613 4591                           First Human into space

Wow you even have the death of humans, since we all more or less exsite in hydros galactic time and he visited earth when humans were around what 15-19- hhndreads so i'll say that the anubians are still a young race compared to the other so around 48 thier planet was born and becuse of rapid evolution primitive Anubians were born around 62 right after humans and I'm not sure on on a death date maybe 64 or 65. Arg to many numbers I hate math.

Huh. I always assumed that the fanfic universe existed in a different reality then our own...

I haven't managed to keep up with what's been going here, so I wouldn't want to presume to know where I'd place the Borark on the timeline. So far the only point of reference I have is their relation to other species in the Prison Escape story. So, whenever that takes place is relatively shortly after the Borark had discovered interstellar travel.

i dont think we should date everything...makes it all seem messy and complicated...besides, i'm sure we've already contradicted ourselves somewhere without knowing it...

Yes, you just did contradict yourself... Haha  I'm trying to bring order to the galaxy with this calendar, how will it make it more messy?

I'm agreeing with opraghost, it matters that we all exist more or less in the same time, there is no need to complicate it, time is confusing enough

because then we have to figure out dates for everything we've already done, and make sure everything fits and whatnot...right now, we can just say whatever the heck we want...i dont like figuring out dates and everything anyway...

This raises an odd question: How old is the Universe in Spore? I mean, do you have the capacity to measure it to the Big Bang?

Thats the beauty of Spore! You don't have to worry about this, because its however old you want it to be for you. And each universe (game on your computer). This is why its not multiplayer and is massively single player game.

You have to admit though, it'd be nice to know, are you a new bud to the galactic plant, or just another leave on an aged universal tree? I'd love to be able to say "My race was here since the start of the Universe."

this is confusing... why deal with a timeline, when every creature in the galaxy is existing at the same time (as it will in Spore)
