The real power behind those Xbox 360 E3 demos
« on: May 21, 2005, 03:02:32 pm »
A pair of Apple Powermac G5 systems were actually running the Xbox 360 demos, not the 360 console. The consoles in the kiosks weren't actually running, they were just for show - now you know why all the controllers were wired.

Oh the irony.
"Listen, I mean that from my knowledge of the world that I see around me, I think that it is much more likely that the reports of flying saucers are the results of the known irrational characteristics of terrestrial intelligence than of the unknown rational efforts of extra-terrestrial intelligence."

I think that they could have been the original dev. kits sent out to the developers?  I may have something completely screwed up, but wouldn't they be the ones that have the general XBOX 360 hardware, but without the stuff... or something...?  anyone know what I'm talking aboot?

I guess they were worried about people stealing the Xbox 360s. Which is exactly what I would have done.

I think they had to use G5s, because they needed a powerful PPC system as the 360 is based on PPCs......

I think it is very interesting to see those pics...I mean we "know" the demos showed a third of the 360s power and those demos were run by TWO (!) G5s (I mean, those systems are not really that weak).

That'd mean the 360 has the power of 6 G5s (ok ok, I am not really sure if you could estimate the power like that but it's fun anyway :D ).

But I like the idea that the power of those two big boxes is just a third of the power that this small white box in the front will have one day....

Actually we now know that neither Big N nor Sony nor MS showed "real" consoles.......
